The Dress is a sweet romance with a guaranteed HEA. While there are more books planned in the series, there are no cliffhangers.
What a charming and uplifting debut! I absolutely adored this book.
Lottie has a knack for rescuing older, outdated wedding dresses and redesigning them for a modern bride. She doesn't plan to take these creations public until her cousin desperately needs a gown. She also doesn't expect to have an instant connection with Adam, who is helping out at his parents' dry-cleaning shop while figuring out his next career move.
While The Dress is a romance at its heart, Lottie's friend group are just as important to her story. These women encourage her to pursue her dreams and they have her back when she stands up to the doubters. I was cheering alongside them as Lottie's confidence in her talents and her instincts bloom as the book progresses.
I appreciated that the characters are adults and have flawed but realistically relationships. I highlighted absolutely beautifully phrased passages and laugh out loud quips in equal measure. And then there is Jennings Township with its cozy shops and welcoming townsfolk. This book is delightful. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!

Adored this book. Believable conflicts and resolutions. Loved the importance of both families by blood and by community. The right amount of sugar and spice! Can't wait to read whatever ER Cullen writes next.
I loved this story and this community. I have a love of sewing and gowns myself so it made it extra fun for me to read. Hope to read more from this author.
This book reminded me of what a community should be. It reminded me that self-taught is still learning. It reminded me that you have to believe in yourself. It reminded me that only you can allow the words of others to make you feel small. Relationships are confusing. Communication is key to all.
Most view wedding dresses as a one-time item. Charlotte sees them as so much more. When she sees a gown in second-hand stores, she sees the history of what it was and what it could be. She rescues the dresses, the fabric with the memories, love, and all things and redesigns them with the hope someone else will be able to bring the love and the fabric forward to their own wedding. Although people know she does this, she likes to keep it a secret, and only those needed for parts of her project (such as dry cleaning) see the results.
When her cousin has a crisis and comes to Charlotte, she does the only thing she can and says yes, breaking wide open all her insecurities and self-doubt. Will Charlotte be able to create the dress Alex so desperately needs? Will her family finally see it's not just "some little hobby"? Will this finally be the start to something Charlotte has so desperately wanted but refused to even hope could be a reality? And what about the dry cleaners son who is in town to help out for a while?
Will everything come together for Charlotte, or will she fail? Will some things work and others not? Will there be happily ever after or heartbreak? Read this book to figure out if all of Charlotte is renewed or if just some of the dreams come to fruition.
There was soooo much to love in this book – it really hits right on so many things I like to see in romance books!
To start off with, I really liked the characters we meet in The Dress. Charlotte is unsure of herself, and that comes through in her parts of the story, but in a genuine way that I found easy to get along with. I really loved seeing the growth in her confidence as her story progressed. Adam was also very sweet and seeing him work through his uncertainty about his next move gave him more dimension than I think we sometimes see in male leads of romance novels.
The small-town setting of The Dress is just perfect for giving a great cast of supporting characters. This is something I really enjoy in a cosy book series because it really makes it feel like visiting friends each time you reading. As well as the wonderful inhabitants of Jennings Townships another cosy must-have of mine that was ticked by this book was the bakery! I love a great local bakery and it was fun to read about the many delicious treats the characters indulged in.
Perhaps one of the greatest strengths of the book is the way Cullen has written the relationships between the characters. The main romantic relationship felt authentic and sweet, and the pacing of the characters falling for eachother really worked for me. Just as lovely were the relationships and support between Charlotte and her friends, and also the chosen family vibes of her relationships with some of the store owners and people around the town. It was really beautifully done and I’m already looking forward to visiting again!
First of all, the idea of a wedding dress having the positive energy of the day enclosed into it is something I’ve never thought about but will for sure make its way to my mind if I’m ever in need of a wedding dress. The story itself is delightful and I love the instant chemistry between main characters. Keep them coming, also include the recipes for some of these delightful foods from the bakery!!
I really enjoyed this book! There was a few times where the wording felt a little too formal for dialogue between characters and didn’t feel enough like a casual spoken conversation but super easy too overlook in the grand scheme of the story! I wish there was a little more from Adams POV too especially in the beginning of the books but there was definitely still enough to get a good sense of him.
The Dress is a beautiful reminder that love often finds us when we least expect it. Even without reading every page, you can feel the charm in Charlotte’s passion and Adam’s journey of rediscovery. The idea of giving old wedding dresses new life is so original and meaningful. This story promises heartfelt moments, romantic sparks, and a touch of magic. A perfect read for anyone who believes in love, healing, and fresh beginnings.
This story is the best I’ve read lately of its kind. It’s a perfect example of a happy, sweet romance, perfect for an afternoon or weekend read. The e-book needs some light editing and updating, as there were a few distracting errors but as far as plot, characters, and pacing, it’s perfect. Brought a smile to my face.
What a fun happy read. No smutt, which is fine, didn’t need it. Lovely romance and lots of growth and I Al a sucker for a woman finding a way to make her dreams come true especially when the guy is a supplemental part of it, not the focus.
I had trouble putting this down!! I loved the town and all the characters we got to meet! Loved Charlotte and Adam’s story! Can’t wait to read more by this author!
