Lyman Frank Baum was an American author best known for his children's fantasy books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, part of a series. He made numerous attempts to bring his works to the stage and screen; the 1939 adaptation of the first Oz book became a landmark of 20th-century cinema.
Born and raised in Chittenango, New York, Baum moved west after an unsuccessful stint as a theater producer and playwright. He and his wife opened a store in South Dakota and he edited and published a newspaper. They then moved to Chicago, where he worked as a newspaper reporter and published children's literature, coming out with the first Oz book in 1900. While continuing his writing, among his final projects he sought to establish a film studio focused on children's films in Los Angeles, California.
His works anticipated such later commonplaces as television, augmented reality, laptop computers (The Master Key), wireless telephones (Tik-Tok of Oz), women in high-risk and action-heavy occupations (Mary Louise in the Country), and the ubiquity of advertising on clothing (Aunt Jane's Nieces at Work).

I read about the Wizards but this story is really fun .

Buku ini dibeli bersama beberapa buah buku yang lain ketika saya bercuti di Hatyai, Thailand. Kedai buku yang saya kunjungi ini, hampir tiada buku berbahasa Inggeris. Kesemuanya dalam bahasa Thai. For me the book is very good because this book tells me a story about a girl named Dorothy that lives with her uncle Henry and Aunt Em. One day a cyclone came to their house when her uncle and aunt run into the cellars, Dorothy and her dog Toto still in the house and the house and the house flew away from Kansas finally their house landed on a country Dorothy was sad because he was far away from home but in that country and a good witch from the north tells her to find the great wizard Oz in Emerald city so he can send them to Kansas. Finally Dorothy start her journey to find the wizard of Oz in the journey she found 3 friends that were Scarecrow, Tin Man, and cowardly Lion that want to find Oz to make their wishes come true. Scarecrow want to have a Brain, Tin man want to have a Heart and Cowardly Lion want to be brave. Finally their reach Emerald City and met Oz, Oz said that he would help them if they all kill the witch of the west. After Dorothy and her friends work together to kill the witch of the west, it turns out that Oz just and ordinary old man from Kansas that was stranded in the country of Oz he didn't have any magic. But Scare Crow, Tin Man, and cowardly Lion still want their request, but the old man said that they already got what they want along the Journey but they want beileve him so the next day he took a water that was written brains in it and pour itu in the scarecrow head, give the Tin Man small red heart, and give the Cowardly Lion a drink that was written Brave in it so it can increase their self-confidence and convince them that they have got what they want finally Dorothy can come home with help form the witch from the south he finally can come back to Kansas.
This story is very Good because it thought us how to trust in ourselves and we have hidden talent that we not discover. Also this book is suitable for us who start reading novel because the words are very easy to understand. I give this book 8/10 for it's simple story and very easy to understand.

Reading/listening to this wonderful story has become a yearly event for me. I never tire of Dorothy and her friends going through Oz to get what they needed in life. The message is always the same, and I'm so grateful to L. Frank Baum for writing this series.

5. "The Wizard of OZ" is a very famous story but I don't know the story. It is not realistic story but it is very interesting for me. I was impressed by Dorothy. She loves her hometown and I also love my hometown. When I return back to my hometown, I always feel happy because I love there. When she came back home, she was so happy. I like that scene the best. This is very nice book.
