Young Vincent Malloy's vivid imagination takes him on a macabre journey into a fantastical and weird world in which his home is filled with spiders and bats, his aunt becomes an exhibit in his wax museum, and his beautiful wife is buried in his mother's flower bed.
Timothy "Tim" William Burton is a prolific American film director/writer, best known for the dark imagery and quirky nature of his popular films. He is also the author and illustrator of the poetry collection "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories."
A simple masterpiece The way he was able to incorporate the works of Vincent Price into the storyline was genius and not only that; Vincent Price was known for his roles in the movie adaptations of the works of Edgar Allen Poe which was also incorporated into the poem beautifully.
I already Loved most of his works but Man am i becoming a Fan!! (Rhymes kekekeke)
This certainly looks like what Tim Burton's childhood was like. A story about a kid obsessed with the macabre whose imagination is so vivid that it's hard for him to determine which is real and which is fantasy. 🤌🏻

This poem is dark and creepy, yet almost cheery at the same time. It shows how the innocent imagination of a child is not always sunshine and rainbows. The rhythm and rimes flow smoothly.
This is one of my favourite works of Tim Burton. I’ve read/ watched this so many times now, i can basically recall it from scratch. And the many allusions to Edgar Allen Poe - I loooove!
“While other kids read books like ‘Go, Jane, Go’, Vincent’s favourite author was Edgar Allen Poe.”
Anyway, go read/ watch it - it’s worth it!! (And only takes 5min)
I really like this poem because Vincent Malloy isn't your ordinary kid who wants to play with robots and junk. He's into the macabre and his idols are Vincent Price & Edgar Allen Poe. Plus his imaginations of being a mad scientist is getting out of hand and he ignores the simple reality of his life. If you want to watch it then search it on YouTube 🖤.
"Such horrible news he could not survive, / For his beautiful wife had been buried alive. / He dug out her grave to make sure she was dead, / Unaware that her grave was his mother's flower bed. "
When I was a kid, you could wake me up in the middle of the night and I'd recite this flawlessly any time.
'Vincent' beautifully captures the quintessential childhood experience to revel in the macabre while being surrounded by literal sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows.
There he could reflect on the horrors he’s invented And wander dark hallways, alone and tormented
Vincent is forever a personal favorite among any Tim Burton brilliant works How can one better explain in which all the many special ways of how great this story really is than to simply say EPIC
