Fun read....some great recipes sprinkled among some sweet stories ...mostly involving his children and their adventures. Also some sweet antidotes re family...his parents and grands....
Shows how our children may remember us thru the family dinners shared and time spent eating!.....
Also the recipes are simple and sound delish

The family stories were fun. I was surprised the recipes used processed foods and were not at all on the healthy side - but, there are plenty of cookbooks with healthy recipes. This was a fun read. I didn’t end up wanting to try any of the recipes. I recommend this for someone who loves chatty anecdotes.

Fried foods and processed foods used

Not much on healthy cooking. No nutritional info given. Lots of fried food recipes. Lots of processed foods used-canned soups are the worst.

Finally got around to reading the whole book. Have tried several of the recipes but I don’t follow recipes exactly and still all the dishes tasted great. Only regret is not reading the Happy Cookbook first.

This is the first cookbook I’ve read cover to cover. The personal stories with each recipe are warm and funny, and they almost make you feel like you’re part of the family. I have marked over a dozen pages of recipes I will definitely try, but there are many more that look really good as well. And easy! My kind of cooking. I think I’ll have to take a look at The Happy Cookbook, the predecessor of the Happy in a Hurry cookbook.

Probably the most unhealthy recipes I've seen in a recent cookbook (it's excusable in old cookbooks since they didn't know better back then). One cookie recipe actually had 1 cup of crisco in it!! (Insert vomit emoji.)

I didn't realize who the "author" was until after looking through the book, now I understand the quality of the recipes.

Loved the stories that went with each recipe. I have already tried a few of the recipes. My only problem is it’s hard to find some of the ingredients where I live. As the author lives Trader Joe’s which is over 5 hours away for me. Yet, what I have tried has been big hits with my family.

So much more than just a cookbook. The recipes are great and so are the stories told by Steve Doocy about family life, professional life, cooking, and more. Very enjoyable read.

Loved the family stories connected to the recipes - enjoyed the recipes even more. 3 of them have made it into our family's list of favorites.

A lot of recipes were what I called "old standards" but it was fun reading about the family between recipes.
