12/10 Nice collection of true Christmas stories including one of my favorites about a man and a woman, separated in WWII who were reunited in their old age in the U.S. by both discovering a tablecloth she had embroidered when they were first married. I was surprised how many of the stories focused on material possessions (some from the giver perspective) versus emotional or spiritual miracles.
This book truly is inspirational and it is a perfect reminder that there is still good people in the world and when you put you faith/trust in God anything is possible!
It wasn't an entirely contrived compilation, but some of the stories didn't merit a place among the others. (Sorry, but at least the second cat story was an improvement on the first.) It seems that they started with the best stories, trailed off, and then concluded with good ones again.
We've heard the story on page 49 before. I confess to finding the tale on page 13 most intriguing. The story on page 9 is, sorry to say, a very sad commentary on the state of Christendom.
But I convey the wrong impression. I was touched any number of times while reading. It was well worth my time.
Christmas Miracles: Magical True Stories of Modern-Day Miracles is the work of three editors. They state they are all from storytelling families and that Christmas Eve was when stories were traditionally told in their respective families. This book is a compilation of stories, almost all of them modern and relatively short. Because the stories are told by different people, they come from various places and times, and the situations are varied as well. All, however, have some unusual happening, and all are centered around the Christmas season.
The stories were easy to read and generally enjoyable. Some were a bit of a tearjerker, and some were reflective where the author underwent a greater understanding of the Christmas spirit. Many involve people helping one another in difficult circumstances. Sometimes the storyteller is the helper, and other times he or she is the one being helped. It's a good mix.
I generally read a Christmas story or poem on Christmas Eve after we finish our dinner, so I appreciate books like this since they gather a bunch of suitable stories into a single place. Thanks, ladies, for putting these together.
What a wonderfully written book. This book contains 32 stories of Christmas miracles. They are what I call “feel good” stories. Whether or not you believe in miracles, this is definitely worth taking the time to read….it just might change your mind if you don’t believe in miracles. Although most, if not all, take place at or around Christmas, I don’t think you have to wait and read it around the holidays. So if you’re in the mood to feel good about humanity, pick this up and give it a try!
This is a great compilation of Christmas miracles recounted by the people who experienced them. There are many heart-warming stories included. My favorite was the story of the handcrafted banquet cloth that reunited a husband and wife long lost to each other. Read this Christmassy little book for an extra dose of Christmas spirit.
My uncle gave this book to me as a Christmas present in 1997. My son and I read most of the short stories during the month of December. So many touching stories!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and most of the stories were heart-warming and well-written. I especially liked that many of the miracles in the book were not supernatural, but rather the miracles that come from human kindness and compassion.
I love true stories and miracle stories are my favorite. Perfect for the season and perfect miracles. Everyone should read this. It gives me gratitude. Awesome stories. As a Christian I absolutely believe in miracles!
A quick read of heart warming stories to further brighten the holiday season. The miracles are not the supernatural kind but actions of human love and compassion.
I really enjoyed this book, reading the stories of peoples miracles. It's always good to read this type of book, makes you feel good inside. Shows that our Lord is still working for us.
