"The world knew him best as the Royalty of rock 'n' roll. But as his true destiny unfolded, Elvis Presley felt guided by heaven's hand to become the messenger of God. Here is the long-hidden truth about Elvis."
Stearn was a Jewish-American journalist and author of more than thirty books, nine of which were bestsellers. As an author, Stearn specialized in sensationalist speculative non-fiction. His early work focused on outsiders and marginalized individuals such as prostitutes, drug addicts, and homosexuals. His later work focused on spirituality, the occult, and psychic phenomena. His most popular works were two biographies on the American psychic Edgar Cayce; Stearn was a conference speaker for the Association for Research and Enlightenment and a proponent of Cayce's theories.
NOTE :This book is identical to another book called “Elvis search for God” by Jess Stearn. The same book.
One of the earliest examples of a “bodyguard book”, a personal memoir written by a Memphis Mafia or close associate. Larry Geller was Elvis’s hairdresser / spiritual guide.
This book introduces us to Elvis the Seeker, searching for spiritual meaning in his life. It introduces us to ideas that were quite shocking in 1980 - that Elvis was into New age ideas, that he somehow foretold his own death. Larry is a great storyteller and it introduces to a new side of Elvis. It’s all done with suspicious levels of recall and clarity. Conversations are rehashed verbatim. These very early books are always more interesting to me. But this one is a bit tabloid sensational.
Larry is an important figure in Elvis’s life and his story is well worth reading. Just not this version. Instead, seek out his book from the 1990s If I can Dream.
If you are an Elvis fan, this book is an eye opener! I could read about him all day, every day and I found this book to be insightful and a pleasure to read. There are numerous notes about his favourite movies and books and I have taken it upon myself to watch and read these, as a way to get to know him better. I’m very very happy I stumbled upon this book on a holiday I took. I was meant to read and keep it.
