Ross was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1972.
He would eat anything and resembled a currant bun.

As he grew up he was fond of drawing, the Bionic Man and precariously swinging backwards on chairs.

He graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1994 with a First in Illustration. In the same year he won the MacMillan Children's Book Prize an achievement that opened many doors in the Big Smoke.

Ross then spent two years in London cultivating an exotic image of the scribbling Scotsman abroad.

Longing for the cold and damp of the North, Ross returned to Glasgow, where he spends his time writing and illustrating children's books, doing animation character development, walking the dug by the banks of Loch Lomond and precariously swinging backwards on chairs.

This was an adorable and fun sequel to "There's a Bear on My Chair", I love Bear and Mouse's contrasting personalities. Neither is particularly polite, but the book is funny. I like the simplicity of the illustrations and the fact that the text is in quite a large font.
Good enjoyable book.

This is a delightful sequel to There's A Bear on My Chair! Mouse decides to move in with Bear. Bear is not sure that's a good idea and plots ways to kick Mouse out. But beware Bear! That cheeky Mouse has learned tae kwon do! Tossing him out may prove to be difficult. But Mouse does prove to be a very challenging roommate. Just when Bear is completely fed up, something happens which make him decides Mouse (or mice) may not be so bad after all. Cute rhymes! This should be a fun read aloud for story time.

There’s a Mouse in My House by Ross Collins is a picture book. I liked this picture book and gave it five stars. Its audience is directed to approximately three- to seven-year-old children.
In Summary this book deals with a bear who lives in his house with a mouse. This is not the bear’s choice, however. It is a fun children’s book. It also has a funny ending the children would enjoy as a picture book ending.
In evaluating this picture book, I believe children will want to read this picture book over and over again. Each and every colorfully illustrated page is full of rhyming sentences. They will probably want their parents or guardian to read it to them, too. A big bear was living happily in his own house minding his own business when he found bits of food missing from his table or anywhere, he let it lie. He then saw the rodent with his own two eyes. This was the proof he needed and therefore knew for sure this rodent had taken up residence in his house. He pleaded incessantly with the mouse to leave. He wanted the mouse of go anywhere, but his house! He offered to send him anywhere in the world he wanted to go. The mouse was content with the bear’s house. The mouse was smart and enjoyed living in the warm house with the big white bear. In fact, the rodent told the bear “No, I will not move out of your house!” The mouse is very playful. He listens to music! He even dances. At the end of this picture book story, the doorbell rings. The bear’s doorbell never rings. The mouse ran to answer the door. Into the bears house runs in five of the mouse’s friends with drinks, cheese, cakes, a pinata and a boom box. They were there to have a party. In the End the bear accepts all the little mice as nice. The rhyming in this book is well done and fun. The illustrations are large and very festively colorful. Kids will like this book. I imagine a lesson to be learned is that children might feel that all creatures great and small can get along after they read There’s a Mouse in My House.

Picture book. This is a sequel to the book There's a Bear on My Chair. In that book, Mouse gets quite frustrated with Polar Bear who will not leave from Mouse's favorite chair. He ends the book going to Polar Bear's lair, which is where this story takes place. Mouse has set up camp in Polar Bear's home, with everything from costumes to books to framed pictures on the wall. He eats food, plays his music, and even overflowed the bathtub! Just when Polar Bear thinks it could not get worse, there's a knock at the door.

The rhymes are great in this book, focusing on the oh sound. But Collins doesn't shy away from longer words, he has the standard know, so, go; but then also overflow, chapeaux, and pistachio. The pace of this book is quick, with the words piling out on top of each other. The feeling is very reminiscent of Seuss, but without the nonsense words or creatures. Some readers may not be able to get past the fact that Mouse moved in uninvited (even if it was to get back at Polar Bear) but for those who can, this book is lots of fun.

As a parent, I like reading There's A Bear on My Chair.
I had hoped There's a Mouse In My House would be as good as the original, however felt the language was trying to be a bit too clever for children. Rhyming the same words throughout is a challenge, but "Borneo", and "Chapeaux" require more explanation than you really want, interrupting the flow of a fast paced rythmn bedtime read. Perhaps aimed more as a nose tap to parents, which is fine but can be done better without losing the appreciation of the intended audience. The ending is also abrupt. All of a sudden, the bear goes from disliking the mouse to liking mice and it doesn't have the same effect as the original twist. Finally, the red text on blue background, making parts harder to scan and read in low bedside light.
I think we will stick to Tom Fletcher, Julia Donaldson, Rachel Bright and Oliver Jeffries for now.

I think this works better as a storytime book than the first one. The rhymes are just as cute, the pictures are just as big, but I feel like it works a little bit better.

I do like that it uses the word chapeaux, which I don't feel like it gets used enough.

A great storytime book!

I really liked this book. I used it as a seek and find with my 16 month old grandsons. They really enjoyed the book and stayed engaged. Just the right amount of reading too. I will definitely be using this book in other storytimes.
