I’ve been in the dark for so long I’m not sure I remember how to survive in the light…
Things were finally settling into some semblance of normal when the unthinkable happened.
Maverick was shot.
So. Much. Blood.
I wish we had time to nurse him back to health and let him relax in peace. But peace isn’t in the cards for us.
Our enemies are circling. Danger is closing in on all sides. And unfortunately, that’s not even our biggest problem. See, the mafia boss my mom is being forced to marry just dropped the bomb of a lifetime.
He’s arranged marriages for each one of my boys.
Now, I have a choice. I can fight for my future, or I can walk away. If decide to fight, one thing is certain.
Anyone who stands between me and my happily ever after will be considered my enemy. And I won’t show them any mercy.
If I decide to walk away, I'd better be ready to run, because the only thing I know for sure is my boys won't just let me go... and neither will any of the other deadly people who are after me…
Maverick , book 3 in the Boys of Brooke Hollow Academy series, is a dark, forced proximity, why choose romance. Happily ever after guaranteed (eventually). Download today and get ready to fall for the bully book boyfriends of your wildest, kinky, smutty fantasies.
Another fantastic instalment from The Boys of Brooke Hollow Academy from author duo Stacy Stone/Charlie Jules. 👏 Our Heroine lets the guys stew in this one while she takes a much needed breather, and so she should...after her guys kept a big secret from her! 😲. Then we are hit by that darn Cliffhanger! I look forward to the next book (#4)..."Phoenix".
Books must be read in order /its a Why Choose Series (mfmmm)
Thank you to Midnight Reader Promo, for providing me with this ARC.
Still packed with angst, action and drama. Picks off straight from end doc book 2 with Mav shot and Skye and the guys staying by him. The biggest lie comes out and everything starts going wrong.
This series keeps you hooked and engaged. Can’t wait for the final book 🖤
This book had a lot more angst in it then previous books and a few tropes I'm not a fan of, such as the lie/ miscommunication trope whereby if the guys had just TOLD Skye then Damien wouldn't have been able to drop the bomb and none of the rest of it would have happened. And then Skye became a hypocrite by getting into her own deal with Damien and keeping it from the guys whilst simultaneously ignoring them for months, which brings me to my most hated trope - the break up/ extended separation. I didn't like Skye in this book, and I adored her in the first two so that makes me sad. I felt she was way way too harsh on the boys and really overrated and blew it all up out of proportion. Like Mav pointed out, they were right to be worried about her reaction because she reacted exactly like they'd been terrified she would.
The first part of the book was amazing and it was so well written that you could feel the hurt end pain they were going through with Mav. But then the rest of the book just went kinda down hill and I didn't enjoy it for the reasons stated. Don't get me wrong, it'd still s brilliant book I just personally happen to hate those tropes and I hated Skye's hypocrisy in keeping a major secret to herself that affected the boys even more than the one they'd kept in a way and then also treated them like garbage for months.
Just when I did not think this series could possibly get any better I am completely proven wrong . Stacey Stone / Charlie Jules make such a phenomenal duo and once again treat us to another awesome installment in The Boys Of Hollow Academy Series . Maverick is book # 3 and all I’m going to say is settle in grab on tight and prepare yourself for one heck of a ride because man was jt a emotional rollercoaster in every sense of the word .we pick up right where book # 2 ended with Maverick fighting for his life and in critical condition. Skye is rushed to the hospital where they all sit Vigil waiting for Maverick to wake up and are completely heartbroken. But their enemies are still out there and their lives are still in danger . How does it all play out well your just going to have to dive in and find out for yourself . What I will say is that your emotions Will seriously be all over the place . One second I was just speechless, the next I was yelling and wanted to throw my tablet straight across the room . My heart felt like it was being ripped right outta my chest . But what never wavered was how 100% invested i found myself in not only the story but all the wonderfully written characters ( characters that are so unique , so captivating and so very multi layered.
This follows on straight from THAT ending in book 2 . With Maverick now in critical condition time is of the essence to get him medical attention and even then he’s not out of danger . Skye sees a call from Dylan and she knows something bad as happened and she’s rushed to the hospital he’s at but it takes ages and when she arrives she devastated by the news . As they all keep vigil over Maverick enemies close in and they realise they aren’t safe at the hospital and need to move Maverick home . Trouble seems to find Skye it’s one thing after another but one thing come out of her trauma she starts to see Damian differently and they form a tentative alliance. If you think the last cliffy was bad you’ll be shouting wtaf Stacy and Charlie at this one , we shouldn’t have to wait too long though as Phoenix’s book is out in September .
Sorry, but I actually severely hated this book. It was like book 2 of twilight. It was a filler book, but with everything in it just sucking. The main female character was insufferable in this book. She was entitled, selfish, dumb as hell, naïve, and just plain odious. She literally punished her boyfriends for two months for some thing that they didn’t even purposely due to hurt her. It was so annoying to read her be so superior and make them grovel. I honestly feel like she doesn’t deserve the boys. And I hate not liking the main character being her. And don’t even get me started on the forced homoeroticism!!! It’s so beyond annoying that writers feel like they have to make perfectly straight men whom are brothers of each other all of a sudden secretly lusting for each other sexually. It’s so beyond believable and annoying as fuck.
Nope not OK with that cliffhanger. This series is addictively gripping. But it resolves one cliffhanger to leave you with another.
Maverick picks up right from the cliffhanger Colton was left on. Skye has to watch over her men as Maverick's life is held on a knife edge. You sit alongside them as they confront the emotions around fear, loss and impatience.
This book is so detailed and digs a lot deeper into these characters. Emotionally they have a lot to contend with and we see Skye having to face tough choices and new allegiances. She is the centre of the narrative and she kicks ass. Skye really comes into her own and becomes an equal leader alongside her men.
The series feels like it's headed towards an epic climax. There are wars to be fought before these 5 can find any semblance of a HEA. I'm loving this ride and the dark undertones of the criminal underworld tying them all together.
Had it's moments i guess. I don't like how the authors teased us for 3 books with that prologue only to not really give any details to it. I mean the fmc's inner monologue is she has blood dripping from "every orfice" inferring that shes bern raped or something. Yet nothing, nothing to describe what happened if it wasn't rape? I did end up skipping things because it started dragging, so maybe i missed something? But wth?
Nearly rage quit the rest of the seties with the almost exhibitionism scene towards the end. The writers proved they could write hot scenes in the first few books so that wasn't needed at all!
Ik heb deze verslonden WEERAL. @auteurstefanievanmol You did it again...
I need boek 4 😭
Maverick…. Boek 3. The boys & skye maken zoveel mee.
This is by far my favorite in the series, and I loved the first two books. The angst is palpable. There's a great balance between plot, spice and character growth. The cliffhanger we all have come to expect leaves us readers chomping at the bit for the final installment, Phoenix. While the answers it brings won't come soon enough, I'll be so sad to say goodbye to Skye and her guys. They've carved out a chunk of my heart and taken up a cozy residence, where I'll carry them always. Bring on the last, ladies!
I literally cannot get enough of this series and just when you think we are moving forward and making progress another shows drops. Skye is a complete baddie and her guys are exactly what she needs they all bring something to the table and they all have a great balance. This book has it all the drama the suspense the spice and man will it have you on the edge of your seat! I loved how with each book we see all of the character grow and build strength. They are all better and stronger together. I cannot wait to see what the final book brings us!
The suspense in this book wasn't nearly as kick ass as in the first two, but still just as good!
The boys have shown a soft side to them, even though you still wouldn' dare to mess with them, and Skye showed us just the opposite; her having a backbone! There was action and suspense and lots of steam! And there's still so much to be revealed!
This ends on a killer cliffhanger and now I have to sit here angrily until the next one releases. I love it!
Another great addition!! This book was filled with so many different emotions for all of the characters. At times it felt like they couldn't even catch a break. I continue to love Skye. She faces lots of challenges, but she proves she can handle them. I'm proud of her growth and seeing the relationships between her and her guys.
We got action, suspense, spice and some things are answered. However, we are left with another cliffhanger!!! I'm so ready for book 4!!!
Turning Damian into a love puppy when he treated Elizabeth and Skye like shit was a bold move from the authors. It also makes no sense but you do you. It's very repetitive, not only words wise but also scenes. Skye is back to not trusting them in this book to finally surrender because she is horny. You got Maverick getting hurt in book 2 and now it's Skye. It's so bland. Still think Damian is the bad guy.
Holy smokes this series keeps getting better. We pick up where after that major cliffhanger. In this book Skye finally finds her voice and is there for everything getting g thrown her way. We finally maybe start to get answers coming in slow but I can't wait for the final book get see the whole picture.
Really liked this BUT I wished there was more, more about Skye and her father, more back story about her mum.... The scene with her step mum could of been more...
Saying that I couldn't wait to turn the page! We needed on another cliff hanger and I'm unsure who Skye can trust! The boys I do but their boss, I dunno... So I'm off to read the next one!
Another cliffhanger!! I love Skye and her men. I love how they were a little more vulnerable with her in this book, considering everything they have been through, especially Mav. I cant wait to see how the series ends in the final book!!
Another great instalment in this series ans this one amps up the angst. Don't agree with some of the characters decision making but that is what makes it interesting. I just need book 4 now!
The only thing that’s annoying me is that it’s hinting at so much MM. it’s never been a thing but each book keeps hinting at it more and more and just ugh no. It doesn’t fit with these MMC. I’m really really hoping this next book doesn’t just jump into it.
You're killin me smalls, that cliffhanger. Skye and the guys. We get spice, danger, suspense and now a multitude of emotions and I am not frickin okay. Why now why! I need Phoenix book now.
So all in all I like the book, finished it in 2 days. However, It’s starting to get a little long and the cliff hanger ugh. Might be taking a break before reading the last book of the series.
These are starting to really drag out :/ I think this series could have been a duet or a trilogy but now I'm in it to the end. This one really felt dragged out though.
