#6 in the Carrier series about carrier based naval air power. Part of the original, highly entertaining arc of the series. Central figure "Stony" Magruder had advanced to the Commander Air Wing (CAG) and is careful to mention that the acronym CAG a leftover from the former title of Commander Air Group simply sounds much better than the linguistically correct CAW. In addition to the warrior aspects of this series, a timely (1994) look is taken at the issues of homosexuality in the Navel and women aboard combat vessels and in combat roles aboard naval aircraft.

Carrier series - As the Soviet Union splits into warring factions, the hardliners decide to launch nuclear missles against cities held by the deposed democracy leaning forces. Carrier Group 14 is tasked with assuring that the Soviet boomers are unable to launch. CAG "Tombstone" Magruder is plagued by the shipboard issues of homosexuals in the Navy and women in combat.
