"Jump, Marja, JUMP!" screamed Mikael to his sister as the yacht charged down on them. He dived to safety - just before the propeller chewed into their boat.
Mikael looked around frantically for his sister. Where was she?
He was a prolific author of magazine short stories, single novels and series novels for all age groups and genders. His children's adventure stories were popular in book club editions and can be found in several languages.
Just an average adventure story - this one set in Finland. Kind of reads like a kids TV episode, complete with amnesia, a boat chase, and a hard-to-swallow resolution. Overall it's comparable to an Enid Blyton book. I might read more by Catherall, but I wonder whether he has written anything of real substance.
Love the Victor Ambrus illustrations, particularly the color cover.
This short mystery adventure for children is set in Finland, amongst the Aland islands where Mikael and Marjatta's father is a fisherman. But the two youngsters never expect to fall into adventure and be Kidnapped by Accident while rowing home one day. Although the story is perhaps not quite believable, children should still enjoy it.
This was one of my first chapter books I read when I was young. It was different than I remembered. It reminds of Hatchet, the book that Jackson just read.
