Developed for courses in first-year writing, A Reader for Writers includes an interdisciplinary mix of public, academic, and cultural reading selections. It provides students with the rhetorical knowledge and analytical strategies required to participate effectively in discussions about queer theory and culture. Chapters include numerous pedagogical features and are organized thematically around a range of issues and topics that fall under the queer umbrella. A Reader for Writers is part of a series of brief, single-topic readers from Oxford University Press designed for today's college writing courses. Each reader in this series approaches a topic of contemporary conversation from multiple perspectives.
I've been reading this book for a class at school but its really good! It seems like its written for the classroom but definitely great to learn more about what it means to be queer. It has some super academic and philosophical sections, but a great deal of it is stories and experiences! I recommend:)
This book is great. It is a little outdated obviously so I gave it 4 stars but honestly it is wonderful. It talks about so many different topics from so many different people who have a variety of experiences and writing styles. There is a Foucault piece in there but there is also a comic so it is a great way to get diversity. LGBTQ+ topics can be touchy for some so be aware that it may have strong opinions but it's a great way to learn if you don't know much about this or if you enjoy reading about this topic it's great. It's a compilation of articles and stories so it's easy to get through.
