The Golf Gods: Who They Are, What They Want & How to Appease Them

Rate this book
From the touring professional to the weekend warrior, from television commentators to the golf-watching couch potato, everyone acknowledges the existence of the golf gods. They govern everything from the hole in one to lost balls and disastrous scores--elation to complete frustration--and even the 19th hole. And they do choose who wins and who loses.

The Golf Gods: Who They Are, What They Want & How to Appease Them provides the answers to the game's most important questions: How can I cure my slice? What kind of power do the golf gods really have? Do golf professionals respect the golf gods? Can we prove golf gods exist? Who do golfers talk to golf balls? and many more. This invaluable guide gives a concise history of the golf gods, reveals how they came into being, describes what they do, and will explain why every golfer has a committee assigned to dictate his play. Have faith, and enjoy the game even more.

A unique, clever, and entertaining book!

The author has made up an elaborate description of the pantheon of "golf gods" and tells what each one is responsible for and what you must do to appease it. It sounds as though it might be amusing, but it's really just silly. It spends too much time on the imaginary relationships between these gods and not enough time on things that might actually illustrate useful advice for a real golfer.

If you take golf or religion too seriously, you will be either disappointed or offended by this book. If, on the other hand, you play for those rare moments where it all comes together and you hit the perfect shot and are unable to understand why it does not happen more frequently, you will enjoy this book. I enjoyed the combination of silly explanations and subtle humor that only a golfer could appreciate. It is not a golf instruction manual or spiritual guidebook and should only be read as a parody of the average golfer’s mind.

Great fun book. Really good enjoyed the imagination and the details about each of the golf gods and demons. I often call on my committee when playing. A good book to have in your golf library.

If you are interested in golf, you will like this book. The author brings a fresh and unique perspective of the golf gods. I liked the concept of Bok, Bingo and Bango, the gods of grip, swing, and release and asking them for their help. The book also provides insights to improve the game. I am happy to recommend it to anyone who loves golf.
