Get ready to step back in time to the Great Depression, where Olivia Wainwright is the only thing standing between the people of Big Town and the ruthless crime families that dominate the area. As the District Detective, Olli is used to going it alone, but when a new partner arrives on the scene and a mysterious figure starts stirring up trouble, she realizes she can't do it all herself. With tensions rising and lives on the line, Olli must work quickly to unravel the truth and take down the culprit before it's too late. But when the shocking truth is finally revealed, it turns out the danger was closer than anyone could have ever imagined - right in the heart of Civilized Big Town.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A noir detective drama meets the mafia from Daredevil with a pinch of holographic sass that reminds me of the car Kitt in Night Rider.
District detective Olli is a boss female MC who is fully capable of handling the mob, but when she meets the charismatic Dallas, they make the perfect police pair (and hopefully something more down the road). Not even The Silencer can stand in their way.
This story is action-packed from beginning to end with twists and turns at every step.
J. Arens has successfully brought the classic mobster setting to the future without losing any of its charm or edge. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Olivia Wainwright is a detective who typically works alone until a partner is thrust upon her. Together, they must work together to figure out a case that is bigger than they first realize.
At first, I was confused as to how all of the parts fit together. Keep reading! Then ending ties up all the loose ends.
I was a little thrown off by items (holographs and surveillance bugs) that aren’t true to the time period. I don’t feel like these were too detrimental to the plot line.
This is the first installment of the District Detectives series.
