I am dying. And so are you, my beloved.

The Age of Endings has come. Soon the Evil One will consume all living things. Creation will end so that it can be made again. Or so says Dyeus, the Destroyer, husband to Hreem, the Goddess of Love and Beauty.

But Hreem will not stand idly by while all life is extinguished. The Goddess goes under cover as a mortal, incarnating on a colorful alien planet as Udaya, the last bard of Singing Tree Clan, in a last-ditch effort to save the universe.

There’s a catch. Transiting through the Waters of Lethe on her journey to the mortal realms strips Goddess Hreem of all her memories. With no knowledge of who she really is, she finds herself caught in a high-stakes battle against the Corporation, led by the Evil One himself, who is hell-bent on bringing about a life-ending ecological disaster.

With the guidance of helpers from beyond, Hreem must face betrayal and unravel the truth of her real identity to stop the Evil One before the universe falls.

A Pretty Good Read

I like books about gods, especially ones in which the MC has awesome powers above and beyond a normal person. That’s the whole reason I read so much progression fantasy. This is not progression fantasy. In fact, this is the first story I have read in which the majority of the characters were divine. It wasn’t a bad book. Some of the prose wasn’t to my liking and felt more like literary fiction, but I am more of a traditional fantasy fan. The description of the gods sucked me in, and I’m glad I read it. The idea of a god being sent to a world with mortals is a great concept. I thought I wouldn’t be able to put the book down. The start was a bit slow, but once I got further into the book, I enjoyed it more. It didn’t quite live up to my expectation, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. The drama between the gods was interesting. Obviously, it was a twist on good versus evil tropes and leaned heavily on Christian themes in the creation. It was a MAJOR twist on those themes.

An absolutely beautiful book with lyrical prose and inventive storytelling. The strong writing and vast amounts of research the author clearly did into various mythologies created a gorgeous world, a story with high stakes, and wonderful characters. A highly recommended read for those who enjoy fantasy but are looking for something a little different from the norm.
