First book in the Months Trilogy series by Rachel Lee. Meg Williams lost her husband and is now raising their daughter, Allie, with the help of her mom. But now Allie has run away and the sheriff, Earl Sanders, wonders if she is suicidal. Earl was best friends with Bill, Meg's husband, and feels like he must watch over the family. He is also in love with Meg but doesn't feel he can go there.
Lots of drama and secrets and stuff. It was just an okay read for me. Seems like everyone had secrets or something. Lack of communication through the years.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this novel, since I'd read July Thunder by the same author and found it only so-so. But this book impressed me. If you're looking for a light "fluff" feel-good romance, this is definitely not the book for you. If you like emotional roller-coaster reads, then you will enjoy this one.
Rachel Lee leaves no family relationship unexplored in this novel. Mother and daughter, husband and wife, widow and best friend, even grandmother and granddaughter; all are studied in depth, and some of the scenes will tear your heart out. I was close to tears several times reading this book. And that's the mark of a good novel--if the story can engage my emotions, then the author has done her job well.
My one gripe is that the romance aspect of the book is pretty back burner for the first third of the novel. Which is understandable, given that the heroine's daughter is missing when the story begins; the heroine would hardly be in a romantic frame of mind at such a time. However, I read almost exclusively romance because I love to read about the developing relationship between hero and heroine. I had to wait a while for it, but I will say that it was worth it.
I do think this book would be better classifed as contemporary fiction, rather than romance. There is romance in it, but not as much as a typical romance novel. However, it was an absorbing and moving read, and I do recommend it.

Two families facing issues both hidden and seen. Meg Williams has lost her husband in a auto accident. At the time he was leaving and planning to divorce his wife whom he didn't love and never had. Their only daughter who loved him the most blamed her mother. She ran away from home with the intent to kill herself. A classmate of hers who was from an abusive home, who only stayed to protect his mother (to his detriment). This story really makes you think.

Easy holiday read!

Came about this book at a used book bookstore. And I kinda just decided to give it a try. It was actually the first paperback book in a loooong time. Usually I go for ebooks.
I didn't know it was a part of a trilogy. So now I need to hunt down the rest of the books.
Anyway. I like the story but I kept thinking this should be where it all ends. Bit nope I wasn't even half way through the book.
Some of the topic seemed out of date but that's probably because it was written In 2000 and I'm reading it in 2014.
Give it a go and see what you think.

This was the second book in a trilogy that takes place in a small Colorado town. Unfortunately, I read the first & second books in opposite order. It was a good story & characters from the other books are mentioned.
