Oh, COME ON! You have GOT to get this book. If you want something smaller that only covers the Hollywood period, Joel W. Finler put out an excellent book. If you just want to read about his highly unorthodox and controversial private life you can go to Donald Spotto. If you want to know EVERYTHING about his amazing career, including his slow inexorable rise from tea boy to director, all the British films, silents and talkies, his WWII documentaries, and all his TV work, this is your only real option. Don't waste your money on the 20 other books that are competing for your attention. This is literally only half as many pages as the awesome Cecil B. DeMille book Citadel put out, but it's just as good. One of the very best in the series, worth SIX or maybe even SEVEN stars in my opinion.

If any of you want to talk about Hitchcock, I'm your guy.
