Blake Blessing is just a working mom that loves art in all forms, and all genres of romance. Although she enjoys writing romance of the steamier variety.
I really tried to stick it out. The fmc is insufferable. She started out as a fighter in book 1 still wasn’t the best tho now she’s useless. Her insistent need to keep her “morals” which fine keep them but 3 whole books of just putting the men down with the holier than thou act. It’s too much for too long. I’m over it.
Killer by Blake Blessing is a dark why choose romantic suspense. This is the third book in the Bastard Brothers of Carnage series.
I absolutely love Blake's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am loving the tension and chemistry between Amorette and the guys. I really enjoyed getting Amorette, Lafe, Andre, Grey, Parker, and Matias's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Psycho to be released on October 10, 2023.
I would recommend this series if you like dark romances, mafia romances, reverse harem romances, or romantic suspense.
The plot thickens! Just when we think there might be a small bit of peace, things explode. A few new developments take shape and a new alliance in the works make some wonder if Amorette knows just how special she is. I can’t wait for more because the cliffhanger ending was something!
Tropes: dark why choose romance, enemies-to-lovers, captive romance, mafia, suspense
Amorette Black kept asking how dirty she was willing to get? Accepting the brothers for who they were is one thing. Understanding that they might always commit terrible crimes is another. That was as far as she ever expected to be pushed into their world. But she's facing an impossible choice when someone else's life is on the line. Stain her soul or hold fast to her while-gloved morals? Could she let go of who she was and did she want to? Is there a difference between a hero or a villain? As the four most infuriatingly possessive men circle her, she's starting to believe there are no choices. Not really. Now, it's time to find her limit.
This book pulled me in and held me captive from chapter one to one hell of a cliffhanger. Things are getting more developed and more exciting. As I read, I seemed parked on the edge of my seat. As with the first two books, there are multiple POVs that I FLOVE. There is realistic growth and development. Loved the chemistry and the ever-present push and pull. I do wish Amorette would get off her high horse, though. I am definitely recommending this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
So first of let me see this is book 3 in a 4 book dark, reverse harem series, so be sure to go back to the beginning and you can check out my review of the first book in the series (Addict).
So we left off on a bit of a cliffy, with Lafe and Amorette in a bit of a tight spot with Vincente. Amorette is forced to put her morals to the test and decide what is more important to her — saving Lafe or tarnishing her mostly clean soul. The brothers are still a bit at odds and running in different directions over past actions and how to ultimately handle Vincente, but when push comes to shove they will always have each other’s back and rally together. What’s still up for debate… is their other half brother Matias, Vincente’s true heir with them or against them? As they grew up, he always seemed to be favored and have everything easier — but did he? Is life alone and with Vincente really the better option when all he says he wanted was to be one of them?
Amorette seems to be in a holding pattern with Grey and Andre, but there was a lot of development in her relationship with Lafe which I was really happy to see. These guys are all broken boys, but Lafe really takes the prize for broken boy if there is one to give. He has so much damage and I just want to give him a hug, Amorette seems to be just what he needs — but frankly just what each of them need. The one relationship that hasn’t progressed, much to his displeasure, is her relationship with Parker. He honestly has put forth some effort, but seemingly not the effort she wants. They continue to test each other and eventually something is going to explode.
We did leave off on another cliffy and this one was a BIG ONE!
My lingering questions and things I’m super excited for in book 4… Matias — will he or won’t be fully be welcomed into the fold of the brothers, and will that means into the sharing arrangement? Will the guys end up on top or totally extricate themselves from the Institution? I can’t wait to find out!!
Amorette was taken at the end of the last book and it picks up with her having the choose her morals or Lafe.
We see Amorette change from when she first started with Andre, Parker, Lafe and Grey. She has lots of shades of Grey and she is more vengeful. We also she her advance with the guys in their relationship.
They are still trying to get to Vicente to take him out. Matías is still trying to show he is there to help even tho the four don’t trust or seem to want his help. There is something there between the two of them. Ends on a cliffhanging to continue into the next book. Told in MPOV.
Oh man was this so good. This is the 3rd book in the Bastard Brothers of Carnage and boy did it on a explosive cliffhanger omg I don't know how everyone is going to feel about this. Without giving any spoilers away you just have to go in blind and ride the wild af rollercoaster this arthur take you on, because there are so many twists and turns leading up to that ending. I'm still reeling from that. This picks up where book 2 had left off at with Lafe and Amorette being taken by Vicente and Parker is left wondering what just happened with his carefully planned plan only for it to be blown apart, and Grey and Andre trying not to loose their mind not knowing where Vincente has them, so time is ticking. This book hit the ground running, but in the middle it kinda lagged my guess because nothing was being destroyed lol but those smexy scenes were sure hot af in here. Definitely need to read if you've read the other 2 book's.
I swear this series just keeps getting better! We jump right back in where Convict left us hanging. Amorette has to decide just how far she’s willing to go for these men even if it means darkening her soul in the process. On top of that, the guys’ plans for the Institution start to crumble around them leading them to look for allies in unexpected places. All while battling unseen enemies to survive.
A couple of the brothers get some more focus in this book and we get to see their characters unfolding a little more as they are coming to terms with their feelings for Amorette as well as growing closer as brothers. We also get to see more of Matías and how he plays his role within this elaborate game of chess that makes up their way of life.
The spice is hot and feels like it’s getting closer to pushing more boundaries between them all. The new dynamic of their situation becomes more familiar which has them all working together more. Now that Amorette is part of that inner circle they operate within she is realizing just how hard it is to hold onto your morals in their world and that there is a lot more gray area than she first believed.
And that ending? Blake left us with another nail-biter cliffhanger that will have you wanting to toss your Kindle across the room lol! Now if the next books could just hurry up and get here already! 😆
*This is a dark romance. Please check CW before reading.*
Ooh the guys are finally getting some character growth!! I absolutely adore Grey. He’s doing so well with trying to control his anger for her 🥹 Andre was STRESSED this book and I genuinely thought he was going to be much more an ass than he was, so baby steps? Parker, my poor baby. He means well(ish) but dammit he’s such a brat sometimes. Lafe. He had a really good turn around but I wanted to STRANGLE him for that one part. Like WHYYYYY? Also, I’m proud of his brothers finally opening their eyes and being supportive. Then we have Matías, who actually might be one of my favorite brothers. He just wants a family 😭 my heart breaks for him. Hopefully by the end of this series he’ll be apart of our harem.
Now, Amorette. While I was so proud of her for making the decisions she did… I rolled my eyes A LOT at her. Apparently three books in and she still needs to be shoved off her high horse? At this point her judgment is just a slap in the face to the men she’s continuously taking to bed and forming relationships with. Her growth has been incredibly slow for the moves she’s been making against others. Hoping for more in the next book!
Overall, I love this series and these characters (aside from Amorette right now. 😂) the drama is GOOD, the intensity that each brother brings is delicious. And I swear to all that is holy if they don’t find out what Mia knows soon, imma start swinging because it seems important.😂😂
*RH *Contemporary *Multi-POV *Cartel *Anti-heroeseyre *moralistic FMC *triggers *established harem (4) *slow/mid-burn 🔥 *3/5 Picking up immediately after that shocking cliffhanger in the last book, Amorette and Lafe are in a very precarious position… on where Amorette may just have to go against everything she stands for! 😢 Thankfully despite their differences the rest of the brothers come to the rescue, although it may be too late in some way😬 This also puts them further in Vicente’s bad books and their lives in even more jeopardy! They desperately need to come up with a new plan to save their skins, the realisation of this forces them to actually start to work together and boy does that created some issues, 🙈it it forces them to actually start to act like brothers - alongside Amorettes dressing down of them…😅 Their plans force them entirely out of their comfort zone in that they will have to work with others and heaven forbid May actually have to show a little bit of trust - especially towards Mathias!! I really hope they can get over their pride and begin to see the potential in him!! I love how possessive each of these brothers are over Amorette but how they each show it entirely differently reflecting their characters 🥰 you definitely get a sense that some brothers are ahead them others 🙄 It’s going to be interesting to see how their relationships develop going forward 😄
Tropes: Dark romance Mafia Touch her and d*e Kidnapping Reverse harem/ why choose
“Go ahead, sit down. Make yourself at home. You’ll realize sooner or later that I’m not your enemy.” “Funny,” Parker quipped. “That’s exactly what an enemy would say.”
Killer is book 3 in Blake Blessing’s series Bastard Brothers of Carnage and it’s a mafia, why choose, dark romance.
I love Blake’s style of writing and how she makes it feel like the characters are real. Amorette really battles with her moral compass in this one. Does she sink lower into the mafia world to help the brothers level the playing field with their father? Or does she stick to her guns and her morals?
I felt sorry for Parker in this one. He’s still a major D bag but you can see how hard he’s trying to win Am over and it’s kind of adorable how he struggles to get her to pay him the slightest bit of attention. I also loved the character growth of Lafe and how even though he’s been so dependent on drugs, he’s trying to get clean for her.
The story line really amps up and I just about squealed when Matías came back into it. I just love him and hope he gets added to the harem. It would sure shake everything up!
Not a crazy bad cliffhanger but still ends with you wanting to shake your kindle because it’s still a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for book 4! Great book Blake!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
If you’ve read the first two books, then you are well aware of the content warning that applies. Please head the authors advice.
If dark mafia, reverse harem, and romantic suspense are your thing, then I would highly recommend you start reading this series pronto!
This is book three in the series, and picks up where book two concluded, and boy, does this book not disappoint.
Amorette is standing on a fine line, between black and white, until it turns grey, impossible choices leads to impossible decisions, her moral compass has her questioning everything she knows to be right and wrong, she is fully immersed in their world, and now there is no turning back.
The tension between between Amorette, Lafe, Andre, Grey, and Parker is palpable, their chemistry undeniable. She is changing them in ways that scare them, yet they are doing the same to her on every level that she is beginning to accept.
Matias then inserts himself into their group. They become defensive, as jealousy rears itself. Matias is beginning to take an interest in their girl, and they don’t like it. They like their dynamics just the way they are.
The different points of view projected a telling story of family, trust and loyalty, but also of betrayal as they deal with the chaos enshrouded in there lives, and as a whole as they pool together their resources to remove their father from power, and take control of their lives once and for all.
As always, that cliffhanger leaves us hanging for more, as we highly anticipate the release of book four, and on a final note, those bedroom scenes were deliciously decadent and downright blazing hot
I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC. Therefore, I am leaving a voluntary review.
Killer the 3rd book in this series and the plot twists are coming thick & fast. Vincente has got Amorette (FMC) and the guys - Andre, Grey, Lafe & Parker playing his dangerous game. Using all sorts of underhand tactics and people to get his way. Whilst all of this is happening Amorette and the guys relationship is developing. We get more of a dynamic between her and Lafe. Which I liked. Parker was acting a bit of a brat I thought because he couldn't get his own way. As for Matias I'm waiting to see what will happen with him?
This series is definitely an engaging one that keeps you on your toes. That cliffhanger ending was jaw dropingly good. I'm loving this series so much. Bring on book 4 now.
Hard choices. Becoming something you despise in order to free another of their burden. The dynamic between Amorette and the brothers is changing, again. She’s becoming a new person because of them. Although under unusual circumstances, new bonds are formed. Amorette has gained courage, a different type of strength, confidence and she is a worthy adversary. Fierce. Loyal. She also starts to see the guys in a different light. Understanding their choices. How sometimes it’s ok to do wrong for the right reasons. Amorette also becomes exactly what each each guy needs. Showing compassion and empathy. A lot of disclosure and progress is made by all. Healing and growth. Quite the insane cliffhanger and it has my mind running wild. Looking forward to some answers in Psycho.
“You’re mine, Amorette. That’s what I wanted to tell you. You’re mine, and I’m never letting you go,”
“You can fight it. You can hate it, but you’re mine. And if you’re a good girl, you can also be my brothers’.”
“You are powerful. You have the power to destroy me,” “I don’t want to destroy you. I want you to fall to pieces. I want us to fall apart together.”
Killer follows the story of Amorette and the boys, starting right where Convict left off. The group is still looking for a way to end Vincente’s tyrannical rule but always seem to be one step behind him.
Amorette goes through some intense character development in this book, finally moving away from her strict morality at times and letting her rage out. She’s constantly at war within herself over who she’s becoming after integrating herself into the brothers’ lives while they are loving the fighter she is proving to be.
We get to see more developing between Amorette and each brother, especially her and Lafe which I think are my favourite duo - he’s so tortured and just needs some stability in his life.
At times I wanted to scream and tell everyone to just work together but what would be the fun in that!
Overall the story did well to move the plot along and I really enjoyed the incorporation of Mathias into more of the story, I just hope that things end well for everyone lol and more group scenes to come please!!
I've never been so excited for a series like this one. It's the kind of story that has you glued to it as soon as you start reading. I can imagine every detail as if it were the character. We get so focused that it feels like it's our reality. I was so looking forward to Amorette's book and it was worth every minute of my time. It's amazing to follow Amorette's life and development throughout the series. Everything she's been through. Demonstrates that she is capable of destroying anyone and anything to protect the ones she loves. Amazing how someone like her manages to be the foundation that holds everyone together. I finished the book thinking about the following. Blake's writing surprises more and more and always for the best. For me Killer doesn't deserve less than five stars, every detail is perfect. Thank you for the opportunity to let me read this simply perfect series.
K!ll3r Book 3 in B@stard Brothers of Carnage by Blake Blessing
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶☠️☠️☠️☠️
Adrenalin fueled action from the first page. K!ll3r brings us right back into the free where Convict ended. The Brothers are rushing to find Life and Amorette, saving them from their fathers madness. The cameo's in K!ll3r is just fantastic. So, Heather Long and Blake Blessing fans get extra treats in this story. The story is wrought with betrayal. Are we getting backst@b or not. Unpredictable. Who do we trust, and why is Amorette being so naive with her trying to be 'good'. Frustrating when you are traipsing through minefields of unknown, betrayals, backst@bbing, and forming allies. Shocking cliffhanger, and I can't wait for Psycho. Things are seriously heating up... Which side is Matais picking? Will the guys save Amorette? Will the Brothers survive? Highly recommended series and author! Big thumbs up
I am absolutely in love with this series. Things keep unraveling and the story is picking up, it kept me on my toes the entire time. Amorette has had her morals tested, and now she's starting to see things not as black and white, and we get to see her try to live with her decisions. She also is figuring out her feelings with the different men in her life and we get to see more of Mateo and what role he plays in this world. There's the perfect amount of action, drama, and spice! I cannot wait for the next books!
Blake did it again! First I loved seeing some characters from others series pop up. When authors create universes for their books—one of my favorite things. Now this book continues the relationship with Amorette and the brothers. The plot and storyline is amazing. There continue to be so may twist and turns that I don’t know what will happen next or where the story will go. The characters are growing and changing so much. Amorette learning that things aren’t so black and white. The brothers learning to open up and love and care for one another and Amorette. Matias, Matias, Matias. He is taking over as my fav. He wants to be loved so bad. Really hoping he can find that (and maybe be added in). Prepare yourself for the cliffy! I didn’t think it would actually happen and I’m so excited to see how everything plays out because I can’t even guess what’s next
There was a lot of character development in this book with some secrets, betrayals, jealousy, new alliances, and conflict mixed in.
The brothers are working on trusting and working with one another and Amorette, while also trying to navigate their jealousy when it comes to sharing Amorette.
Amorette is forced to make some difficult choices that definitely test her morals. I feel like instead of losing her morals and losing that "hero" attitude, she has twisted her own morals to fit into this world she is trapped in. She is still determined to protect and save as many people as possible, but her methods have started to change. She still butts heads with all four of the brothers even though she is understanding their world more and realizes that there isn't always a "good" choice. The ending has me anxious and excited for what is coming next.
The third book of a five why choose series centered around a choice in this reverse harem contemporary romance involving four morally grey anti-heroes. All whose eyes are set on Amorette within a game twisted of pawns ♟️ Grey, Lafe, Andre and Parker.
Trust and family leads this installment. To become better brothers, to trust each other and Matias (the legitimate son of their father).
Every action has deadly consequences especially when the group continues to be several steps behind.
Lots of suspense had me 😳 📖 Had me Hook, Line, and Sinker. Baited 🎣
Slight crossover into The Network with Fletcher Reed, Dae-Hyun, Cash Morgan, etc from Cardinal Sins.
The ending literally changed my point of view about this book. The cliffhanger is a mind-blowing touch to the storyline and now it will make me wait for the next book. The story started from the very point it was left off in the second book and moved forward with all the action already happening and gearing up for the big blow. It was all serious but entertaining, the relationship development is the highlight of this book, and then those plottings with much higher stakes with the current scenario. I applaud how the plot is moving. It’s a good series to binge read. 3 books out and 2 more to go.
Excellent! I think the series keeps getting better and better!! Full of secrets and some surprising revelations. This book definitely kept me on my toes and I didn't want to put it down!! There was action, suspense and lots of steam! Amorette really grows in this book. She also learns alot about herself as well. This book also focuses on the growing relationships between her and the guys. I loved seeing them get closer emotionally as well as the spice between them was hot!! I honestly can't pick a favorite between the guys. They are each so different, but also so important. What a great addition to the series! I loved it!
Blake has done it again!! From the time I started this book til I hit the last page I could not put this book down. I am so excited for book 4!! I can’t wait to see where this story goes next!!
As always , another 5 star read .this series is just so freaking amazing ! In this one we have the brothers trying to get out from their fathers thumb. He is such a vindictive prick. The other brother Matias is around more in this one, which I absolutely love. I feel bad for him. He really wants to be in the brothers lives, but trust isn’t something they give out freely , especially to him. Amorette is well… still stubborn and makes some stupid decisions, she’s still always mad and angry lol I feel so bad for Parker lol he really is trying . Then there is the cliffhanger leaving me so anxious 😆 gahhhhh!!!!! Absolutely love it !!!
Again with another brutal cliffhanger. This story is in my soul. I love every single thing about this story. I really hope Mathias joins this harem. He really intrigues me. Finally, Lafe has come around more. Now we just need Parker to figure out what to do lol
