The Titanic was the most famous ship in history. But what really happened to the Titanic on that terrible April night in the North Atlantic? Why did it hit an iceberg? Why did it sink? Why did more than one thousand people die? This book looks at the true story - and gives some of the answers.

Tim Vicary is an author and a recently retired university teacher from the university of York, England. His legal thrillers about a tough British barrister, Sarah Newby, have been compared to the works of John Grisham and Scott Turow. His three other historical novels, Cat & Mouse, The Blood Upon the Rose, and The Monmouth Summer, are all available individually or as a boxed set of three, entitled Women of Courage.

Tim has also written about twenty much shorter books, graded readers for foreign learners of English, published by Oxford University Press. In 2010 and 2011 two of these - Titanic and The Everest Story - were each the winners in their category for the Language Learner Literature Award for the Extensive Reading Foundation.

Tim lives in the English countryside, near York. When he's not writing he likes horse-riding, cycling, and swimming.

The book Titanic by Tim Vicary is a dacumentary about the world's largest and safest ship in the world. It was a built in 1909 and finished in 1912. The ship can carry more than 2000 passengers including first-class, second-class and third-class. It was traveling from Europe to New York. But on the night of april 14th 1912 the ship hit an ice berg. Water came in to the cabins and made the titanic sink. There were only 20 life boat and most people who survived were women and children. The men ,crew and musicians died because they sacrifised themselves. The survivors were help by other ships who saw the titanic sinked. Today, the stroy of titanic is still appreciated and they even made stories and movies about the titanic.
My favorite part is when the musicians played music eventhough the ship was sinking because they tried to make worried people to be happy. I don't like the first part because it just talk about the lives of the passengers and it was boring.

What a wonderful book!
After watching the movie, I decided to order this book to read ( actually to improve my English!! ). It is not only easy to read but also gives us a scientifically specific reasons why does the ship was sunk! The pictures make the reading less boring and shape readers’ imagination. The original price from amazon is expensive ( about $8 for new and $6 for old but also depends on the released date of the books ) so then I ordered on Tiki ( about $2.5!!!) pretty nice book with the same quality!!
Thank you for reading my review. Hope it somewhat helpful!

Tas bija tā, it kā es izdzīvotu to visu atkal no sākuma. Tā pat kā skatoties filmu, likās, it kā es tur atrastos.. Protams, ka dažus vārdus vai izteicienus nesapratu, bet tur man palīdzēja tulks. :D

Vēlos atzīmēt dažus citātus, kuri palika galvā. " 'Goodbye, my love,' she said. She never saw him again." un "But they also remember the cold night in 1912 when the 'safest ship in the world' went to the bottom of the sea.", "Women and children only!", "I'm going to die."

Var likties, ka nenozīmīgi citāti, bet tie mani aizķēra..

As teaching material, I can say that this was a great success. The lessons regularly ran out of the rudder, literally, because the class had so many follow-up questions. Who would have thought a difficult ESL class like the one I am currently teaching could be drawn out by this story. The writing is at an appropriate level of difficulty. So it was an unexpected win.
