Well, I'll say this ... this is one of those books where you should just "take what you want and leave the rest." Some may find some useful tips, some may not - to each her own.
In my case, I've been at home for a decade and a half already, so I didn't find the kind of tips I was looking for. Much of what I read seemed stereotypical in nature, and not unlike what I've read in a multitude of other places over the years.
I had the impression this book was about starting a business from home, but it's not. It's really a catch all guide (to do lists, exercise, eating healthy, finding like minded friends) to sprucing up your life when you are at home with the kids. It's from 2005 and actually a bit dated- I laughed out loud at the suggestion to "surf the net instead of wasting time watching tv" and "set up an email account!". I ended up skimming most of the book looking for any sections that might interest me. I will say the book is very complete but in general just needs an update.
I did check out the authors' website, www.momstown.com, which says "helping entreprenurial moms make money" (so I didn't just imagine this book might be about starting a business?) and there is a newer book listed, "It's All About You". No, I don't think it is all about me, and I'm not intrigued enough to even check it out.
Read this book way back in 2007 - it was of the many books I read post-delivery of my second daughter. Can't recall much now but I still hv 'The G.A.L. (Get A Life) Commitment' - nicely handwritten in my journal. - Must've moved me so much for me to take my time & get that all written!
Looking back now in 2013 (6 years later), I'm back to be a SAHM & knew now how I've come back to take this SAHM ver. 2.0 to another level - cos I've had a pretty good start back then.. Looking fwd to all the joy ahead of me now :)
I actually read this book when I was pregnant. I really liked the message it gives about not losing yourself and the importance of taking care of yourself first so you will be better able to care for your kids. I found it to be an encouraging read.
I've started reading this book three times, and I've done the program 1/2 way through but you really do need a buddy to keep you on the task. My stay at home life got in the way.
