It is a story of a man named Khambou (Colonel Khambou) who escaped from a camp for prisoners of war in 1975 and formed a resistant force to fight against the communist government in Laos. Laos is a small country and many people don’t know where it exists in the world. It is a country in Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos), which was involved in the Vietnam War. French journalists have called this group “la resistance oubliee” comparing to “les maquisards francais during WWII.” By reading this book, you will explore the life and hardship of people in small countries affected by superpower countries. This book emphasizes the ideology of a man and his effort to pull his country out from the tension of the conflict of the superpower the Soviet Union, the USA, and China, and the war in Vietnam and Indochina. Nevertheless, his actions cost him his life, family and property.
