I knew this was going to be a tough re-read and I wasn’t wrong. The plot was a little chaotic and I wanted so much more in terms of character development. I wanted less tears and submission from Cheyenne, less commands from Callon and Colt can stay just as he is, thank you very much. I do strongly believe that you can overdo a triangle and 2.5 books later, here we are. But sorting out the triangle THAT way, noooopppeee.

All that said, I’m here for the full read but I’ll take a little break from the series to read other commitments for a bit. I have definitely enjoyed hanging with these guys.

Gosh, I'm finally writing my review on book two in the Timeless Series. I was so thankful (and nagging for months) for Lisa Wiedmeier to send me an ARC to read and then I failed to meet my deadline for the review. Luckily, she knows how busy life can get, especially at the end of the school year with kids and all. Thank you Lisa, and as before I'll be honest in my review. :-)

On to the review...

I loved the first book (obviously) but I did have a few issues with Cheyenne, the MC, and her kind of whishy-washy attitude. But Lisa totally had Cheyenne grow up in book two. Cheyenne is torn between so much that has been thrown at her over the last twelve months that it only makes sense at her age that she would be all mixed up emotionally. She really expresses herself more clearly in book two.

And, there is so much more action and new characters to get to know and try and figure out what their role is in this story and Cheyenne's journey. I have to say that I am with Cheyenne when she wonders why she can't just ditch the whole betrothed thing and 'she's the hope of the world' and run away with Colt (my FAV of the boys). But, alas, it is a story we will have to read on into book three to find out the reasoning.

Maes, I loved. Even though throughout the story one had to wonder if he was a good guy or bad guy or half-and-half. (I'm kind of a fan of hunky shape shifters).

There were a few scenes where I think there was too much dialogue giving away what the reader had already concluded. Like telling the reader what was already understood. But, I have to admit that authors have their own style. And, I think this is just Lisa's style.

*Spoiler alert* The ending about killed me. Tears. I was like "Noooooo!!!" But, I have fingers crossed and faith in Lisa and in Cheyenne's powers that things are not as they seem. Unfortunately, like the rest of us I'll have to wait until Lisa's fingers have clicked out book three across the keys of her computer.

Until then, I'll wonder about Cheyenne, the O'Shea's and the rest of the clans... [Oh, and she can bet her inbox I'll be asking for an early copy] :-D

OH MY GOSH!!!
I finished the first book of this series and couldn't stop reading, so naturally I had to buy the second one right away. As I read Promises, I kept thinking "Ohh don't let it end with this event currently happening, I really want to see what happens next." Then, as I kept reading, the event would end and there'd still be a lot more pages left. I would sigh in relief every time this would happen. So much happened in one book and it wasn't rushed.
This book is heartbreaking. It kept me in suspense and kept me thinking "Please don't end yet!" and had to keep checking how much of the book was left(I read this book in my kindle).

I love how the author wrote it in such I was that Cheyenne's feeling projected well out to me. Great job! I can't wait for the third book to come out. I am officially a big fan of this series. It has not let me down at all. I love everything about it.

I enjoyed the basic concept an story. I hated the love triangle between Colt An Callon both wanting/loving Cheyenne.
The other thing was I kept WAITING for Cheyenne to come in to her own. All that feeling sorry for herself drove me bonkers!

I'm adding to my original review of book one. May I just say.. WTF.???

First off REALLY !! Cheyenne GROW UP....CHOSE ONE,,! All the flip flopping crap drove me nuts.

Also it was SO OBVIOUS that Matt was Marcus. I was glad Cheyenne go her powers but what the heck ?? The build up over the transition..then the let down of when it happened sucked. This book felt like a filler...not the next stage in her story. It was a repeat of the first her trying to run away, get caught, run away, get caught..they leave her alone. She meets Matt aka Marcus, they unite fight with each other enter the bad guys.. Blah blah blah

The only real shocker was the author freaking killed one of the favorites....don't see any way of coming back from that.

Then the darkness comes for her. The loss of losing her beloved who she cant be with anyhow. So kill him.It really pissed me off that she never did find her backbone. Ugh

I'm not sure if I will bother with the next book. It's 50/50 at this point

Speechless, shellshocked, and so happy I paid for this book.
Thankful I was able to instantly purchase this book just moments after reading Cheyenne, I began the continued journey of Cheyenne and her three hunky captors. Struggling to find out the truth of who she is and who she can trust, Cheyenne makes mistakes, discovers what is important and then finally loses the connection to the person who gives her hope.
If you're looking for a spoiler, you won't find it in this review. I'll just worn you to feed the kids, get in some comfy clothes, and buckle up because it's quite the ride! My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book to come out! Ugh!

I absolutely loved promises so much happen in this book and Cheyenne experiences so much growth and loss.
this book made me cry at the end :C
I love all three O'Shea brothers.
Colt is just amazing he loves Cheyenne and never tries to use her for her powers
Callon loves Chey but at times your left wondering if its just for what she can offer him
Daniel is amazing he always keeps neutral ground and he just loves teasing Chey and being the big brother figure to her

Ugh I can't wait for Daylight to come out!!

Hello everyone I'm here to give my review of Promises book 2 in the Timeless series, I wanna start with reminding everyone of the thrilling ride Lisa took us on in Cheyenne book 1. We were drawn into a new and fresh story, a fresh idea that was written in depth and penetrating to the core. I grew to love all the characters and was caught breathless and gasping when the twists and turns of the story happened keeping me on edge for what was coming next. I fell in love with the Timeless Series and book 2 and taken even further into the lives of Cheyenne, Callon, Colt, and Daniel. Does Lisa ever run out of brilliant ideas? No is the answer to that as this book proves it time and time again. Lisa writes these books like she's sitting with me and telling me a story. No detail is left unseen, I can see the scenes, the fighting, and the wind through the trees as I read. But more than that Lisa takes her writing to a new level and she evokes emotions that only a truly brilliant author can pull from a reader. I told Lisa I haven't had my emotions stirred this deeply since reading The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa and I mean that. I love to read and when I can open the first chapter in a book and feel the despair and anguish of the characters who are torn between life altering decisions, I know it's going to be an amazing story. Now down to the story and characters, first off Promises picks up right where Cheyenne left off, your mind is still reeling from the powerful first story and this one is going to send you over the edge. Cheyenne only ever wants to be free and make her own decisions but what she doesn't see in the end will make her life harder than ever. She comes to some heartfelt realizations and admits her true feelings only to start a chain reaction of events of epic proportions for her trio of guardians. Cheyenne's life starts spinning out of control when her constant need to be free is over powering and she manages a daring escape. She encounters new characters who will not only thicken the plot but twist it so tightly you could wring the turmoil and animosity from it like water. Now on to the Guardians, and my oh my what a trio they are. Strong, handsome, brave, caring, and most of all filled with love for one girl who can change their world. Callon, ever vigilant only wants what's best for Cheyenne even if he has to suffer to give it to her or hurt her to keep her safe. Colt, he is the light for Cheyenne she can't function without his loving presence and he holds her so dear to his heart that all rationality goes up in smoke where she is concerned. Last but not least is Daniel, he is fun and loves Cheyenne like the sister he didn't have. He helps her when her new life starts forming and she needs to have a trusted companion and partner in crime. The characters in this series are brilliantly written and would be stunning placed into a movie. The world has no choice but to fall in love with the Timeless Series. Now for the emotions, I laughed and I held my breath but most of all I was moved deep in my heart by compassion, longing, need, want, and love. When one is destined to be yours but doesn't love you what can you do? When you love the one who is forbidden what will happen? When love is too much to bear where can you go? All these questions and so many more are lying in wait in Promises. I can't begin to express the emotion I felt crying my eyes out for all the characters in this book. It was an emotional roller coaster that I am glad I rode and can't wait to ride again. Lisa is an author that come along few and far between, she breaths into her stories her own passions and desires. She takes her readers on a fierce journey of excitement and adventure that will leave you gasping and begging for more. Lisa does more than tell a story, she shares a part of her with you and keeps you with her for the entire adventure. 5 out of 5 blistering bright stars for Promises book 2 in The Timeless Series. I am holding my breath for more.

First, I have to say I’m only missing one star from this book, cuz it left me wanting more and, made me cry. Ok, so finally I’ve read Promises, and so much happens. Cheyene is still mad at the three brothers, (tho not so much at Daniel as Callon or Colt), over their keeping secrets from her. Especially that she’s supposed to be with Callon & not Colt, since Callon’s the leader of his clan & she’s the last of hers, and being betrothed to each other. Bring in a breast to the mix; a Tresez who wants to protect Cheyenne too, but only (or so I think) for his benefit, so the "curse" can be lifted off him. She makes her escape, only to be caught again, & she throws some very harsh words at Callon, hurting him even deeper than what she feels they hurt her by keeping her from the truth. A new character crosses her path & Im not sure I trust him; he is a stranger after all. (And just for the record, I KNEW HE COULDN’T be trusted – as I wrote this review while reading, so I found out who he was after all).

I got a bit frustrated at the fact Cheyenne is always saying she needed to get away from the boys so she can find out who she really is & the "truth" but she doesn’t actually do anything about it. (This is up to 50% into the book). She did keep reminding herself (and us in the process) of all that she’d lost & her grief and rage over everything that happened to her and how her life got turned so upside down so quick; but I can see her need to reminder herself of this; after all it is what helps her fuel her ‘gift’. So it kept getting better and better after this. She goes thru her full Timeless transformation which really takes a lot out of her, but I do like her ‘gifts’, lol. She can DEFINITELY KICK ASS!! She still has to learn how to control it, but she gets the handle of it as the story progresses. She finally meets Marcus face-to-face, though not in a good sense. He kidnaps her and wants to use her for her powers.

Although I know deep in her heart Cheyenne truly loves Colt, I couldn’t help but want her to be with Callon, and realize it that she could love him just as she does Colt. I know that her love with Colt began natural, starting from a friendship, and evolved from there, but she and Callon have this connection between them that can’t be imagined. Though she feels like the connection between their rings is the only reason why she feels attracted to him, I know it’s not true; well I hope it’s not.

I wasn’t expecting the turn of events towards the end; (get your tissues ready ladies, you’ll need them). I honestly teared up at the end here, and I love the fact that we have a bonus at the end with a sneak preview of the 3rd book: Daylight, but I couldn’t get past the first page; I don’t know how Im gonna get through reading the 3rd book with all the memories and emotions I can imagine Cheyenne thinking of. Great sequel to Cheyenne, and I can’t wait ‘til the next journey. . .with my Kleenex box. =)

Hmmm well this was a bit of a let down. I believe the major problem is that the entire story is based on the love triangle between Colt, Callon and Cheyenne. Everything else falls into the background and it should be the other way around.

Cheyenne is also becoming increasingly annoying; instead of growing and becoming her true self she only feels sorry for herself and blames all of her sorrow on others. She acts like a stubborn three year old at times.

Also, this love triangle doesn't really make sense. So if Callon was meant to be her betrothed all along, why was it Colt who posed as her best friend? And even after, when they were all living in the cabin together, how can it be that he watched his brother kiss her, hug her and openly tell her he loves her and just stand by?

Besides that, I think Cheyenne also comes across as too weak. The entire story is a string of events in which she needs rescuing from one situation or another. She is completely dependent on others and then whines how horrible it all is instead of trying to learn.

Major second book phenomena.... Let's hope the third one is better!

Ugh. That's my main reaction to finishing this book. It was a long and frustrating journey and I have not yet gotten over my anger. There were oodles of pages filled with Cheyenne complaining about wanting her freedom, having to leave, but then missing her guardians. Over and over. Non-stop! She was like a broken record.

I could also see the train wreck that was the end 25% of this book coming a mike away. For someone who is supposed to be so smart, Cheyenne sure makes a lot of really poor decisions and misses a lot of things along the way. There might as well have been a giant neon sign of Matt's head saying "where did he come from???" and she just ignored it.

All this being said, of course I'm going to read the next one. Of course I doubt the big shocker of an ending is going to last. I'm just going to keep being on Team Callon and hope he smacks some sense into her.

This is another well-written story in the continuation of Cheyenne’s journey. This one is a more difficult read because Wiedmeier does not spare the heartbreaking moments.

Cheyenne must learn the hard way that sometimes growing pains have expensive consequences. Her quest for the space to ‘find herself’ turns truly tragic and, just like that, the entire mood of the story changes.

Although Promises has a bit more angst throughout, this second book of the Timeless series is well told. I felt light, love, hope and the shell-shocked version of tragedy. This story is worth the tears I shed over it, and I gladly surrender many Kleenexes to the cause.

I am interested to see where the series goes from here.

This was a great series!! I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out.!.!

Just just one little thing with this book... The main character, Cheyenne, towards the end of the book, something major happens and it shakes her up pretty bad. But let me just say this, no man should be you LIFE ! She should have never made him the center of her world the way she did. Yes it was traumatizing but you are your own life and happiness. You shouldn't rely on others to be "your light"..
Just my personal opinion
Other then that the story was great. I do think Cheyenne could def become more independent and not rely so much on everyone else for her happiness & protection.

Wiedmeier delivers a lovely follow-up to Cheyenne, though it is slow at times. Promises has double the love, double the pain, double the...Daniel? I got to say, I was ecstatic to see a bit ore of Daniel. He's my favorite character in the series, and seeing more of him made this great sequel even better. Cheyenne grows closer to becoming Timeless, but will she survive her hunters and endure her guardians long enough for that to happen? Promises lives up to being a follow up of a great debut, and if you're a fan of the first one, you'll definitely enjoy Book 2. It has witty sarcasm, light-hearted teasing, as well as heart-wrenching pain and loss. This page-turner is a must read!

I thought "Cheyenne" was amazing and continuing in the series with "Promises" I experienced the same issues as I did with the first book...I couldn't put it down! In this book as Cheyenne tries to figure out how her true friends are I can tell you as a reader you do the same thing as the character; you try to figure the rest of the character's out and you'll be just as shocked as Cheyenne! I don't wish to give anything away but you won't see the ending coming either! In today's world a lot of genre's have become predictable and I admit that the ending was not what I expected and it made me hungrier for the next book! The Timeless Series is addicting!

I think this author is definitely one I would look out for in future. The characters were strong and the storyline emotional. If a story gives me any kind of emotional response (in a good way) and gets me invested into it then it's gotta be a pretty good read for me.

I gave this story 4 stars only because I thought Cheyenne annoyed me in parts. The ending of the story, well I knew what was coming but I didn't know how it would be written it was pretty well done.

A recommended read but start with the first book 'Cheyenne'.

I`ve just read Promises, A Timeless Series Novel, Book Two and I enjoyed it. Thankful I purchased this book immediately after reading Cheyenne.
This paranormal book is told in the first person by Cheyenne in such way that I had impression I am Cheyenne and her thoughts, words, deeds, likes and dislikes were mine ones., After her parents` death her life became new, strange and unpredictable. I hope she`ll find her light of truth and her destiny at the end.

I had to get this after the cliffhanger from book one. Book one did a good job setting us up with info on what has happened before it started as well as what will happen now that Cheyenne is growing up. But life is never that easy and when the heart is involved it takes on a whole new level of crazy. While the pain of being forced into what most of the Timeless consider the master plan, Cheyenne tries to follow her heart while she is changing and taking her place in this new world of hers.

I am hooked. I enjoy this story. Additionally, I like that Cheyenne is annoyed by her dependence. That is something that gets to me in a lot of series -I want the heroine to want to stand alone. Release date of next book is so far away! I think a lot of my Goodreads friends would like this series. I believe Book 1 is still free on kindle.

Well I saw that whole ending coming from about 25% of the way through Book 1. The only questions left is whether or not it stays that way or if a "miracle" will happen...

As for the rest of the book, muuuuuch better. More action, more story, better written over all. I was very happy with this one and I'm now looking forward to book 3.

Wow! I am so in love with this book! I think I finished it in two days, and that's really fast for me! This book is full of so much love and hatred, so much suspense, fighting, and mourning. I seriously cried for about 45 minutes after finishing Promises! This is a book that is so easy to get drawn into. I cannot recommend this book enough!

As book 2 to Cheyenne, this one was pretty good. I did get a little bored when Cheyenne kept reflecting on the same topic of despair and how she'd lost everything over and over, but I still liked it. I can't wait for book 3, DAYLIGHT, to release!

Beginning of this book is PAINFULLY SLOW. It picks up into some great storytelling but then what happens to one of the main characters completely ruined my desire to read the rest of the series. I'm done.
