Wicked in the Shadows
I knew that coming home to them would be painful. I had no idea that it was only the beginning.
After coming together to deal with the syndicate that followed me home, the guys went their separate ways once again. As I struggle to forgive and forget the past, they do as well. It all gets so much worse when an attack on the nightclub Wolfe and Ace own sets off a chain of horrific events.
Wolfe is convinced that Maddox and Ruthless are behind the attack even though they deny any involvement. The Hale brothers are still at odds despite my efforts to bring peace. Deep down I know that the Archer Syndicate is behind this. As the brewing war between the brothers escalates, the pressure is on for me to expose the truth.

Enemies outside and inside the Syndicate?
Maven is trying hard to get all the guys on the same page. Without them working together, they'll never be able to bring Archer down. It's not so simple, though. The Hale Brothers have had seven years to let their anger fester, and it simply doesn't go away overnight. Not to mention, Maven hasn't exactly figured out how to fully forgive Maddox for the decision he made all of those years ago, either. If she can't forgive him, Wolfe certainly won't. Then there's Ruthless, who, for whatever reason, harbors a lot of anger towards her as well. She can't figure out why, and considering he basically just gives her the cold shoulder, she isn't bound to learn why any time soon.
To make matters even worse, it APPEARS that Maddox is making moves against Wolfe, and everyone's worried Wolfe is going to retaliate, despite Maddox telling him he's been doing no such thing. Then, Maddox is accused of killing an MC member. Things are just happening all over, making things harder for Maven to get the brothers to get along, and she's sure that Archer is to blame. She just needs to prove it!

I didn't care for the 1st in the series, but a friend convinced me to read this one. It was definitely an improvement, so I'll probably read #3 when it releases.
