Say goodbye to stressful schedules, painful latching, and worries over milk supply. In the same sensible and sensitive voice that has made baby-led weaning a growing sensation, authors Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett show how easy nursing can be when you let your baby lead the way. This comprehensive, easy-to-follow guide will help you understand your baby’s unique, natural pattern and develop a trusting and healthy breastfeeding relationship. With the help of personal anecdotes and color photos from real moms, Rapley and Murkett explain how • Get breastfeeding up and running in the first few weeks • Hold your baby so that he can feed effectively • Express and store milk efficiently • Avoid or remedy sore nipples, mastitis, and other problems • Wean at a natural pace Breastfeeding shouldn’t be a struggle, and, if you stay in tune with your baby, it can be effortless. Baby-Led Breastfeeding will give you the tools to create a happy and fulfilling breastfeeding experience for you and your baby.
This was informative, but I found the format a bit off putting. I guess it's just not quite what I'm looking for in terms of preparing myself to breastfeed.
To be honest, if I was coming to this book as the intended audience and without my background, I think I'd give this book 5 stars (although would I have the experience and knowledge to know it is that good???) At any rate, I would have no qualms about someone using this now more than 10 year old book as their main resource and have very few quibbles about dating. It's a nice tone without trying to be your best mate (place for that sort of book of course but some won't want it), there's a diversity in the photos and I loved that many significant challenges to the normal course of breastfeeding due to issues with baby or mother are covered at the end.
I wish I’d had this book before my first baby. And before my second baby. I’ll recommend this to anyone interested in breastfeeding, who might be lost by the other misinformation and pressure that’s out there.
There’s practical info in here, and scientific info, that really clarifies and simplifies breastfeeding.
:) Must have dla każdej mamy 😉
I wish I'd read it during my pregnancy, instead of after my baby was born, but I still think I got some useful information from it. It's made me consider learning more and maybe helping other mothers with breastfeeding!
Same konkrety. Ogromny plus za odwołania w książce do innych jej fragmentów (z numerami stron) gdzie ewentualnie można doczytać o danym aspekcie, zdjęcia oraz podsumowująca tabelkę - ściągę na końcu.
I was given this book as a baby shower gift before my son was born but never got around to reading it until he was almost 2 months old. BIGGEST regret. I feel like this would’ve helped so much during the initial stages of breastfeeding. I do feel a lot more confident of the topic in my knowledge post-read, and I feel like this is a concise and well-rounded snapshot into breastfeeding.
I would highly recommend this book for any mums who are planning to breastfeed their babies, currently breastfeeding or are breastfeeding peer supporters. I found it very informative.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fish reading this book due to the early appearance of my daughter. However, I got the general idea of what baby led breastfeeding is from reading only a few chapters
I read this in preparation for training as a peer supporter but wish it had been around when I was pregnant with my first child. Full of great advice and information, my only concern is that it slightly glosses over how difficult it can be to establish breastfeeding. But it does have lots of suggestions on overcoming challenges.
