All three characters from the #l national bestselling If You Give . . . series have brought their books, recipes, songs, and activities to this family treasury, chock-a-block full of fun things to do. Parents, grab your kids Kids, grab your parents and join Mouse, Moose, and Pig as they read, bake, sing, and play.

You can't go wrong with any of these stories. Someday, when I am old and have empty nest syndrome, I plan to pull this book off the shelf just so I can remember the crazy, noisy, busy days with my children that still enjoyed snuggling and reading these stories with me.
I have read this millions of times to my younger siblings and every time I go to babysit I have to read it once, if not twice to the girls. It is a fun read and I would recommend it to anyone with younger kids.
This is such a cute book. My mom used to read me these stories when I was young. Now, I am able to share these stories with my daughter. She is just learning to read, and these are fairly easy for her read with minimal help. I also love that it has recipes, music, and activities for the children to do or as a family. I highly recommend this book to anyone with young kids.
I gave this book a 5 because I liked the characters and it was a mix of lots of If you give a... stories. I also liked the recipes inside and I even made the chocolate chip cookies inside. I also liked the songs inside it.
My kid loves this book. I enjoy reading them to her, too. They're fun and absurd in the best possible way. I only wish this treasury had more than 4 books in it.
The extras in this book are fun - we didn’t do the baking or the singing, but enjoyed the other activities, especially the drawing and writing their own stories.
I swear, I am not only reading kids books this year. It only seems that way because I read them so fast. I'm reading books for adults too, but they take me a lot longer to finish. The kids books are around, so I read them, and if I read them, I'm surely going to post them.
Anyway, this book has four stories (two about Mouse, and one each about Pig and Moose). It also has songs, recipes, and activities, as well as a CD. The CD has people singing the songs in the book and has people reading the stories. I haven't listened to the CD.
As in many of my favorite books for kids, I have to ask: Where are the parents? In the Moose story, the mom is outside raking leaves, but she never even notices a Moose is wreaking friendly havoc in her home. In the other stories, parents are neither seen nor mentioned. The kids in these stories could use more parental supervision. Today playful animals are destroying the house, but next week these kids could be smoking weed and engaging in sexual activity. Oh my!
The best part of these stories are the illustrations. Oh, the sad expression on that pig's face when she's homesick and thinking of the farm where she was born. Heartbreaking! The satisfaction that moose conveys as he sits with his legs crossed at the kitchen table and uses a napkin to wipe the muffin crumbs from his face is a joy. I love the bright colors and facial expressions.
I had not yet read any of the "if you give a [who] [a what]" books yet, so this compilation of them was helpful in slimming my library book stack....It caught my 3 1/2 year olds attention, but seemed to bore my 5 year old. I think that these stories are cute for parents because they capture the essence of our daily lives...get this, get that, get this, on and on until you are back at the beginning...all in all, not that great. I dont see what all the hype is about.
HOWEVER,
this collection also includes some recipes, songs, and activities (and a cd). Of the 8 songs, only one of them is any good (sorry Sarah Weeks, stick to writing stories, not songs!).
The recipes and activities make this book a worthwhile read.
This book is very cute. All of the stories in it are good. They are all just about the same, so if you are going to sit down and read them all at once they are a little repetative. However, they are all cute. The book includes several activities and recipes to try. My son loves it. He will randomly bring me a recipe to try. Plus, some of the illustrations carry over from story to story. This can help make it extra fun for the reader.
These give and take books are very cute. Just the titles are catchy; mouse-movies, pig-pancake, moose-muffin. I love the illustrations that go with each story, very imaginative and very detailed. And this edition came with a cd so my kids could listen and follow along without my help. Plus there was additional footnotes from both the author and illustrator talking about their inspiration for the books and little hidden details in the pictures.
This book is a definate must have for any fan of the series. I recieved this from my husband as a Christmas gift last year & I immediately felt like that little 3rd grader who once met the author at a book signing. It was a very especially cute book for me which I will forever call one of my childhood favorites. Very cute!! Good use of cause-and-event!
Great treasury of four of Laura Numeroff's "If you give a..." series, this book also includes a CD with read-alounds of the stories, songs, and little anecdotes. The book has the written recipes and some games to play. Cute read and the repitition is great for emergent readers to get excited about reading since they can chime in and "read" along with you. Quick for a before-bed story.
This one comes with a CD, which is great for the car, especially long car trips. It's got about 4 stories and a bunch of silly songs. The stories are great, too. A lot of cause and effect...and great artwork.
All the added stuff--recipes, CD and such--is well worth it. My kids love listening to the CD in the car and it is fun to read the stories and make some of the goodies. The interesting little tid-bits of trivia are fun for the parents too.
★★★★Mouse Cookies & More- A Treasury by Laura Numeroff This contains: Mouse/Cookie, Pig/Pancake, Moose/Muffin, and Mouse/School With a narration cd, recipes, puzzles and songs, this is a great addition tho the If You Give Series
Our daughter could read this book over and over. She loves looking through the pictures on her own. This book is great because there are 4 stories, songs, recipes and more in it.
