Arbor Day, Boys Town, and Kool-Aid(R) are just a few of the marks the Great Plains state of Nebraska has made on American culture. From the state's eastern border along the Missouri River, where Lewis and Clark embarked on the Corps of Discovery expedition, to the towering geologic landmarks of the west, chronicled in pioneers' journals, there are treasures to explore on each page of "C is for Cornhusker: A Nebraska Alphabet."

A Picture book with 26 Unique things about Nebraska, one for each letter of the alphabet. A short discussion on each item included more information than I expected for the parents reading this book. The watercolor illustrations were full of bright colors and captures the topic addressed on each page. Included in the Nebraska 150 list of 150 books by Nebraska authors and about Nebraska and it's people.
These aren't my favorite type of book to bring back from each state because they're not as unique, but they do give some really good information about the bigger things about each state. Lots of the items mentioned from the alphabet are things we saw/experienced so it's fun to be reminded of them and have little educational panels to give more information. The illustrations are nice too.
We purchased this when we traveled to Nebraska for the Great American Total Solar Eclipse in August 2017.
I think I want to own this some day! A book that was on the Nebraska 150 years reading contest. I really enjoyed it! I learned a lot of things about the state of Nebraska; some weird, some cool and interesting. A quick read worth the time of every Nebraskan.

My Review: This is really a great series of books, it can be entertaining for all age groups with bright images, simple letters and phrases and more detailed and historical information in the margins. I can see this being a great collection to have for a classroom to use for geography. Munchkin seemed to enjoy some of it, but I learned something new, I had no idea Kool-Aid came from Nebraska. A fun and informative book.
