Paked with practical insight and encouragement that helps unlock the abundant Christian life and share overflowing resources. People Sharing Jesus shares inspiring stories and reality-based techniques on how to apply this strategy to everyday life.
"Remember, God uses three things to bring the lost to Him: the Word of God, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the witness of the believer." (Darrell W. Robinson, People Sharing Jesus, Page 233)
This book has a forward from Billy Graham and has some good tools of evangelism in it. It is not a charismatic book; therefore, you will not hear teaching on how God uses signs and wonders to confirm the Gospel. He does, however, mention the work of the Holy Spirit, but in the context of allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you and perhaps lead you. That is why 1 star is deducted for this. Another star is deducted because the book mentions materials that he has made to share the Gospel too much. I felt like I had no option, but to get this booklet. To be fair he does mention getting other booklets like Billy Graham's Peace with God to make a Gospel presentation to an unbeliever.
The Bible is very clear that Jesus performed signs and wonders to confirm the Word of God and it is clear that God used signs and wonders in the apostles and disciples lives to confirm the Word of God. He clearly missed the mark on this and I am wonderment of how you can ignore Scripture after Scripture of the signs, wonders, miracles, healings, gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible. The author managed to write a whole book on evangelism without mentioning any of these things. The Bible is either true or it is not. Either miracles occurred or they did not. They did. Time to stop being so politically correct and tell the whole Gospel, no matter if it agrees with your theology.
There are some practical ways to share the gospel in this book such as using a tool called the FIRM method, which is an acronym for Family, Interests, Religion, Message. Also, going through the 3rd gospel of John with an unbeliever and many other tools.
After reading many books on evangelism and having took Billy Graham's School of Evangelism Course and Reinhard Bonnke's School of Fire course and having done evangelism, it all comes down to allowing the Holy Spirit to speak and work through you. The author of this book agrees as well because he writes on page 209: "Remember, successful sharing is sharing Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God." The Holy Spirit is the person who gives us the power to be Christ's witness (See Acts 1:8).
Many good perspectives on the topic of evangelism, somewhat weighed down by stories about people who said that exact right thing at the right time, resulting in instant conversion or other hoped-for response—a common weakness of many evangelism books. (This review is almost identical to my review of How to Bring Men to Christ because I read both books more than five years ago and don't remember them well enough to make further distinctions.)
One of the most important books I have ever read! I know that God wants me to share Jesus with all people I meet, and not just in church ministry. This book has given me a lot of encouragement to trust the LORD and talk to people. I have great difficulty speaking to people I don't know, but I know that He will give me grace.
