Voke’s small book is a cutting word that calls Christians to go deeper into their personal walk with Christ by crying out to God for more of him. This work has long been forgotten, but provides great insight into how a devoted life of prayer leads to more of God.

Stanley Voke's Personal Revival was a good book to remind me of the Truth; our sin and need for Jesus. While the book had great truth in it, it was difficult for me to connect with the author's writing style.

My favorite point in the book was on pages 49-50 when he discusses the purpose of the law. Here are my bullet points of that section:

- We don't know how bad evil is until we see God's holiness.
- The 10 Commandments were given to us by God
- The Law of God does not mankind to sin, it only opens our eyes to our sin.
- "...the law can never save, for it can only make sin apparent while it does nothing to help the sinner."

So basically, the Law's purpose is to help us understand God's heart, see our sin and realize our need for Jesus.

This is a quick read, so I'd recommend checking it out even if it is not your preferred reading style.
