Pace was good! Its a slower novel yet it managed to keep me interested. The main character was unlikable in a thought provoking way, where you both don't like him and yet feel sorry for him. I found the writing to be very thought out and well done, but I found the ending to be rather confusing and it left me feeling a little unsatisfied. Other than that, I found it to be an enjoyable read with deep undertones and a intriguing premise.
Would I recommend? Yes! Is it the absolute best book of all time, with no faults at all?
Of course not! But what could possibly make a book be "The Best" anyways? No book is without its own errors.
Id say if you enjoy psychological novels roughly around the 1950's with an interesting look into the mental state of a physiatrist plus plenty of unhealthy romantic dynamics, you'll probably enjoy this.
