A True Story of Hunting Evil

A childhood that saw her abandoned on the doorstep of a convent and then abused by her adoptive parents left Christine Hart vulnerable and desperate to find somewhere that she belonged. A quest to trace her real father led her along a confused and complex path to the prison cell of the notorious Moors murderer Ian Brady, and thereafter to a life of espionage and subterfuge.

Christine worked undercover for the British security services and then for a series of Fleet Street newspapers. She got to the core of notorious terrorist groups and witnessed first-hand the nefarious methods for which the UK media were to be vilified.

Her continuing fascination with evil then drew her into the web of Los Angeles serial killer Ken Bianchi - the notorious Hillside Strangler. In For the Kill is the remarkable, absorbing and sometimes shocking story of the author s search for her own identity - a quest that has taken her into the very heart of darkness.

The narrative voice here, leaves the reader in little doubt that there is no defining distinction between truth and lies - other than the brutal acceptance of reality and dealing with it at all costs. From her very early and rather difficult childhood, C.J. Hart, was forced to accept the harshest of all realities, in that nothing was ever going to come easy for her. It was very painful to read how she struggled as a child for acceptance. And even more painful that the one person ( her adopted father ) she trusted the most, was the same person who betrayed that sweet vulnerable trust in the worst and vilest form of humanity. I'm not sure why this particular title was chosen for the book, but as I was reading it, I could not get out of my mind, the Roger Whittaker classic "New world in the morning." C.J. Hart, grew out of the ashes of a very severely burned childhood and she rose like the phoenix into a life of intrigue and imperiled danger. She somehow very intuitively and quite expertly learned to be equally brilliant at adapting to this life of spying that was just matter-a-factly tossed upon her lap. Everything about C.J. Hart screams passion. And it's passion in a way that most people could never even begin to imagine. Many women, and indeed men, that will read this book, will be left to ponder the depth of their own passion and indeed the seriousness of their love relationships and marriages. We discover here that C.J Hart eats mars bars for foreplay, while she is waiting for her "real" IRA lover. She devours her taste in men in a way that tigers eat their prey. I very quickly found myself falling in love with her and by the time I was to the last page, I felt as though I was saying goodbye to the great love of my life. C.J. Hart, is that one person that most men would want to meet at least once in their lifetime. There is no doubting that she is exceptionally brilliant at being her true self and she is constantly evolving to fit into the world around her and people who come into contact with her. I found "In For The Kill" to be an excellent read. I was immensely impressed with how vividly descriptive the writer was able to paint her life into words. Most of us believe that our lives are worth writing a book about, but really, they aren't. C.J. Hart grew up wanting her life to belong somewhere where someone would just love and understand her. She may never have truly found that true piece of happiness in her life. But if ever a story needed to be told - it was this one. And i feel very fortunate to have read it.

Where to begin with this book. I started this book liking it and by three quarters of the way through I found I had to give up on it, as I could no longer take the authors tone. I just could not understand why some one who appeared so intelligent in so many ways seemed so stupid in others.
Her credibility was suspect when she described some events, for example being felt up by Ian Brady, the moors murderer whilst visiting him on a prison visit. WHAT??? How could this be allowed to happen? One of the most famous killers in the British prison system and you have access to be with him unsupervised???
Or how about the tale of when the author was kidnapped by the IRA and then held hostage, with the constant threat of torture and murder. When she is released does the author leave never to return? NO, she returns and then has a romantic, secluded affair with one of the heads of the organisation!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!
She is constantly being told she needs to stop following leads on cases that are causing her stress and anxiety, but does she listen, no this amateur psychologist believes she can get into and possibly solve the workings of the mind of serial killers. BECAUSE it is not like anyone else with better qualifications hasn't tried and failed.
About the only part of this book that I found myself reading and having sympathy with this author is when she recounts her awful childhood. It is no wonder this woman has no concept of sexual boundaries and how you should conduct yourself when in a intimate relationship.
There was a making of a really good and interesting story here, but sadly the more I read, the less I could find it. There may be others out there who 'get' this woman, but not me. I couldn't even finish it so off putting did her story become.
