A bee sneezes and the cow catches the cold—and his buzz. Then the cow sneezes and the pig catches the moo, the duck oinks, and the dog gets the quack in ‘this rambunctious book [that] will have kids mooing, oinking and giggling.’—BL. ‘A deliciously silly story.’—K.

This is a cute, if silly, book about a bee giving a strange sort of cold to a cow, who passes it onto a pig, who passes it onto a duck, etc. until all the animals are suddenly making the wrong sounds. The farmer then gives food to the animals based on the sounds they make, so he gives the cow honey.
...
WHY would he give a (cow that he thinks is a) bee honey? Honey COMES from bees!
The rest of the book is good and cute. I just have that one complaint (because it's weird!).
My favorite part of this book was the repeated line "He caught the cough and the sniffle and the sneeze, ah-choo." Though there are other rhymes in the book, none of them have the same catchy rhythm. I wish that the illustrations had made it clearer which animal was going to get sick next, but I would use it again, since it was a fun fiction book for a storytime about germs.
Hilarious! Fun story with charming illustrations. Fast-paced story with catchy wordplay for reading aloud and participation from story groups. I used to read this all the time to visiting groups when I was a Children's Librarian. Kids love this story. Shame that it's out-of-print.
A bee flies into the barnyard and sneezes, giving the cow not only his cough, but his buzzing sound as well. The cow sneezes on another barnyard animal, passing on the cough and the cow's moo. And so it goes for many, many pages. A tad tedious, but nice if you want to indulge in barnyard noises.
Children of all ages will enjoy reading and acting out this silly tale. Author Andrea Zimmerman also adds in a few cautionary lines of advice about proper sneeze and cough etiquette that fit seamlessly into the story.
I was looking for some good interactive / funny books to do with SK for storytime, and Ms. Kirsch recommended this one as one of her favorite books of all time to read aloud... so I interlibrary loaned it, read it, and fell in love. SK also loved it.
A simple, but funny story with a great lesson for young children about what happens when you don't cover your face when you're sick and sneeze on someone.
