An epic adventure, coming-of-age, time-travel fantasy series inspired by early Tennessee history. Book 1—At age twelve, Joel Biggs, the intelligent, brutalized, bullying  son of an alcoholic father, and two friends, Billy and Mark, wander down a sunlit creek into the past.  They run afoul of the infamous Wesley Pike and his vicious river pirates.  With cunning and strength Joel effects their escape and is transformed from an angry bully into a compassionate leader as they struggle toward home, but only Billy and Joel make it back to the present. Book 2—Joel, an adult alcoholic history professor, is tormented by memories of the childhood adventure. Billy, the only one capable of confirming the reality of the adventure, dies and Joel doubts everything, including his own sanity. He cannot continue unless he travels back in time to find Mark.
