Donald Allen Jones was born in Claxton, Georgia in 1977. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and went on to work as an administrative assistant, child abuse council chairman, and substitute teacher, as well as occasionally writing for his local paper, The Claxton Enterprise. In 2003, he joined the Ogeechee Rifles Camp 941 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, where he has been the newsletter editor, webmaster, and historian for the camp. In 2016, he joined the Evans County Historical Society and, in 2018, the Bulloch County Genealogical Society.

His first poem, The Confederate Soldier (published in Confederate Veteran Magazine in 2007) was a tribute to the men who donned the grey in defense of the Confederate States of America. His second, Their souls scream out to me (published in Confederate Veteran Magazine in 2011) focused on the memory of those soldiers and their current plight in politics, the media and in our schools.
