A.G. Riddle spent ten years starting internet companies before retiring to pursue his true passion: writing fiction.
His debut novel, The Atlantis Gene, is the first book in The Origin Mystery, the trilogy that has sold a million copies in the US, is being translated into 19 languages, and is in development at CBS Films to be a major motion picture. The trilogy will be in bookstores (in hardcover and paperback) around the world in 2015.
His recently released fourth novel, Departure, follows the survivors of a flight that takes off in 2014 and crash-lands in a changed world. The hardcover will be published by HarperCollins in the fall of 2015, and 20th Century Fox is developing the novel for a feature film.
Riddle grew up in a small town in the US (Boiling Springs, North Carolina) and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. During his sophomore year of college, he started his first company with a childhood friend. He currently lives in Florida with his wife, who endures his various idiosyncrasies in return for being the first to read his new novels.

I read both Pandemic and Genome. Very inventive an complex plot. When I read Pandemic I felt like I knew where some of the Covid vaccine myths came from. Quite the conspiracy plot. The Citium in the story is an ancient group whose mission and passion is science and wanting to know the reason for human existence. The characters are compelling. Desmond, Peyton, Avery, Lin are in both books. This is a real page turner. You have to really pay attention though, to keep up with the intricate plot. I enjoyed it because of it's complexity. I kept me thinking. I was very absorbing. It explores the corruption power causes, the lengths people will go to to avoid pain. But love still wins in the end.
Having read all of this authors books, they all seem to have the same plot, same relationships and same James Bond type of silly escapes and near misses. The core ideas are very good; that’s why I read them all. The details are mostly silly and often absurd. I struggled to finish the final book in each series. I’m not sure why I didn’t just stop reading. I guess maybe I wanted to see how it ended. Read at your own risk. You will be torn between finishing and not through much of the book.
Five Stars for the overwhelming amount of research!!!
Not a fan of these two books sadly. I could read & re-read all of his other novels. Just couldn't follow these nor did I enjoy following the history of world wars or how they linked to the story. So far beyond my scope of understanding. The Looking Glass levels, etc. are just too involved for a non technical reader. I soooooo enjoyed all of his other books and I will leave my comments at that.........
Wow! This is an excellent read and well worth the time. The only topic that has ever given me "concern" is that of a global pandemic and this series nails that tension and adds additional layers on top to represent today's modern ecological and economic situations. The sci-fi is always present but a very behind the scenes slow build portion of this storyline which I wanted to be disappointed by, but wasn't. The storyline flows easily resulting in a rapid page turner that doesn't gloss over the character development or details. Easily the best set (or book) I've read in a very long time.
Riddle's epic read has a lot to recommend it. The globe-trotting adventure leaves you wondering. "Where next?" Character development is one of Riddle's great strengths. The plot wears a little thin in places, but in a novel of over 1000 pages, you have to expect an occasional snafu. Romance is a recognized ingredient for any successful novel, but this element, while present, wears rather thin. The science is, however, believable and robust enough to carry the plot and make it work. Extinction Files is worthy material for anyone seeking a diversion from the ordinary.
A G Riddle is brilliant with his characters and forward-thinking imagination and with his research and history. It keeps one on their toes wondering what next will happen. It kept me riveted, reading into late in the night and waiting until I had time to get back to it the next day. Great reading!
The first of these books is an absolute blast and kept me guessing. It's a can't-put-it-down kind of action romp, with plenty of character building and backstory. The second book is a bit more chaotic, less organized, which I think is supposed to leave the reader guessing but mostly just made me feel a little lost.
Now that I’ve finished reading The Extinction Files: The Complete Series - Box Set my first reaction is that I can’t imagine reading this story one book at a time. That would have been unbearable! This was a murder mystery historical adventure thriller romance wrapped in science fiction - or a science fiction murder…reverse order! Just read it.
This series gripped me immediately. I liked Pandemic better than Genome — but that is probably more about my comprehension level than the book itself. It got kind of hard to follow. I found it fascinating to read a book about a pandemic, written only a couple of years before the Covid pandemic. So many interesting facts and history - wound in a fast moving, entertaining story.
I like reading fiction that teaches you something that would be too dull to read in a textbook. In this series you get to learn about genetic evolution, the human genome, and theories regarding the potential future of the earth and the human race.
Well written. Sophisticated multi-layered plot. Right-sized detail allows you to see the characters and their world in your mind like a movie with a pace that holds your interest and pulls you through the story. Masterful writing!
So much research and facts, great suspense, interesting goals Mr Riddle please continue to write. It is so good to live in other worlds with great hope
I love this author. Besides being a fellow alum of UNC he has a fantastic mind for science fiction. I enjoyed the Extinction files. A real page turner of sci-fi and maybe reality. My only question is if there is no more illness what will keep the population manageable. Does it mean no more dying? I don’t know but a magical world awaits.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Extinction Files boxed set. And reading Pandemic was most timely. The author’s style is engrossing and his storylines fascinating. I have read all his books so far and plan to read many more! Thank you AG Riddle!
I loved every bit of this series. I had a really hard time putting it down. This book have me a really different look at life in general and I found fascinating and touching at times
Intrigue wrapped around a pandemic that couldn't be explained. Beginning simultaneously in several areas of the world. Bioterrorism? What was the end game?
Interesting series. Lots of excitement and twists and turns. Near the end it seems to get a little strange, but ends well. A.G Riddle writes another great series!
