Born in Rome, Tamburini started writing in 1974. His first comic series, Fuzzy Rat, was published in an independent Rome-based magazine, Combinazioni. From 1975 to 1977 he worked for Stampa Alternativa, designing books and leaflets. He also founded the magazines Cannibale (1977) and Frigidaire (1980). Tamburini is primarily known as co-creator of the character RanXerox with Tanino Liberatore. Along with Andrea Pazienza, he is considered one of the best Italian comics authors of his generation. He died in Rome in 1986 of a heroin overdose.
I was 11 years old and I would go to the market and would look at sci-fi movie magazines but I would pick up heavy metal magazine and nothing else really got me like this like rand's rocks when I saw him in that hairdo in those muscles and those goggles and it was painted lips and then I see love now I was like what the hell and just to see how this monster would just protect her and demolish anything in his path and for some reason I didn't even get the fact that they were really screwing but the artwork and the storyline was awesome
This more action-focused sequel doesn't qualify for "erotica-related" since it isn't packed with all the nudity and sex (mostly TABOO) as the first.
This book is split between New York and Rome. New York focuses on the (auto)eroticism of car crashes and in Rome a vestigial-headed Elvis lover goes on a chainsaw massacre so it's exceptionally gory- the kind you can almost taste! I've never seen a better bullet exploding face! Or better cutting-edge dismemberment! I can't get enough of the art- the way he creates depth within and around the edges of people's anatomy is FASCINATING!
There are quotes that must be included: 14 year old girl talk: "Ranx is still a little... mechanical when he fucks but he's much better than the first time a year ago! >>> "But... other than that... you like Ranxerox?" >>> "Of course! I love him!... Like when my mother was in love with her first dishwasher!"
More Lubna: "Oh Ranx, a ticket for Rome... when I think I welcomed you with a slap! This is the neatest present you could have given me... besides a kilo of horse, that is."
everything about ranxerox is sick and wrong, and i love it. totally over the top, violent and offensive. and hilarious. i read this serialized in heavy metal magazine in the early 80s, and its fun to read the original version that wasn't sensored for american publication. not for everyone, but if you're not easily shocked and can appreciate satire at its basest level, try and find a copy.
I used to steal this from my Father's bedroom and read it when I was a kid. I was precocious and stole his Heavy Metal magazines too. Tamburini and Tanino Liberatore published Ranx in Heavy Metal. I miss art and stories like Ranxerox. I wish there was more.
I think it's good to own at least one or two things that make you genuinely uncomfortable. RANX is one effed-up series. It makes me feel so weird I can hardly stand it.
Siguen las aventuras del androide cyberpunk, ahora sobreviviendo como taxista en New York mientras piensa en un buen regalo para la exigente Lubna. Violencia y sátiras de género.
What an absolute twisted sick fun. I have read so much and I have forgotten so much of what I have read. But this was just so brilliantly something else.
