How to Bag a Jabberwock: A Practical Guide to Monster Huntin

There are untold monsters in this world and we must defend ourselves against them. Britannia and her Empire are threatened. Scorpion-tailed Manticores prey upon our soldiers in the Persian hills, and in the snowy mountains of Tibet the legendary Yeti waits in ambush for the unwary Himalayan traveller. High in the heavens predatory Kraken patrol the skies and deep in the underground the mysterious Shide lie slumbering, ready to stalk our dreams. And yes, even within these emerald isles, monsters linger-Vampires, Lycanthropes and Ghoti... I, Major Jack Union, know these creatures inside out. Discover within these pages the truth about the secret world of monsters-and how to defeat them.

The Victorian Age is beset by monsters from the rat-toothed Jabberwock and skull-headed Martian to the fell Air Kraken. Steampunk monster hunter Jack Union is here to teach us how to defend ourselves against each and every one.

With wit and vigour, Jack Union tells you everything you need to know. Lest you fear your eyes be wounded by examples of political incorrectitude, Dear Reader, be assured that Kit Cox - the man behind the monster hunter - is well aware of the vagaries of the Victorian Age. Jack Union is a product of the Empire - arrogant when he least expects it, and quick to slam a man for wearing the wrong day suit. Having said that, Jack Union is no dastardly Flashman. A true hero, Jack places our safety before his own. He has no desires to further his own aims (by taking of the Jabberwock gland of immortality, for instance). He is not only debonair but forthright and of good conscience.

Jack Union is, ladies and gentleman, a Steampunk hero. And on procuring this delicious steampunk monster guide you'll be well on the way to being a hero or heroine too.

Gross and mean. I don't like reading about monsters just minding their own business and some dude chopping its wings off so it slowly and painfully bleeds to death. I'm not for hunting for sport, and How to Bag a Jabberwock is exactly that, only fantasy style.

Dashed handy volume to have on yer person, this one. Lost track of the number of times I've run into these assorted monster blighters, never was quite sure how to deal with 'em, so I just blasted away with Bessie (m' trusted service revolver) until they high-tailed it. Glad to see some chap's finally put their expert know-how down in a form that other chaps can understand and make use of. Looking forward to expanding the old trophy collection with some jolly interesting souvenirs next season. Bloody good show all round.

A very enjoyable read, written in good taste and humor. Liked the inclusion of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Rudyard Kipling characters.

An absolute must read! It's fantastic following the adventures of Major Jack Union working to keep the common folk safe from the ever encroaching threat of monsters!

The book is wittily written, and makes you believe you are reading the grandiose adventures of the Major. The monsters talked about and depicted are interesting and the description is of such detail I feel I could draw them from memory!

Absolutely fantastic book from a genius author who continues to excel in his genre.

I shall read it again and again as it never ceases to bring enjoyment to me.
