As the demands of work grow more intense, personal life can get shoved to the side. But resolving the job-versus-life conflict doesn't require the kind of big, disruptive, scary transformation that so many time-management "experts" recommend. In Tweak it , Cali Williams Yost proves that a comfortable work+life fit can be achieved through making small, consistent, everyday changes -- tweaks -- that, cumulatively, will optimize job performance and well-being. This engaging, practical book, filled with case studies of people who've tweaked their way to professional success and personal satisfaction, guides readers through an easy-to-implement program that can be tailored to suit any individual's life, both on off the job.
Practical advice to tweak the demands of a busy work/life. Lots of examples, stories of inspiration and resources. The key is in the consistent implementation of the process. When you do it, it definitely works.
Our lives often feel like we are drawn in myriad ways which causes us to be exausted. In this book, Cali Williams Yost pulls together many ways that we can use to help regenerate our lives.
The idea behind this book is interesting: Focus on a few small things each week to help develop the life you want to life. I found the execution to be a little bit confusing. No examples of "tweaks" are given until the third or fourth chapter, so you're reading about how this will help you but you have no idea what it is. I also felt like the ideas in the first few chapters were like any other time management self help book. I didn't learn anything.
An organization plan for each person to achieve their goals in an manner that does not disrupt their work or personal life balance. Yost gives a lot of attention to details and time management. Overall a great concept for someone who is already setting goals and needs an action plan. Good recommendation for workplace skills training.
This book has a lot of good information to Tweak your life for the better. It does not take a lot, just sticking to small weekly tweaks to your schedule and then evaluating what worked and what needs to change. There are many good links and websites that offer additional helps and current tweaks that other people have done that has helped them.
This wasn't really what I thought it would be, so rated lower for that reason, but seems like a good start for those looking for "work/life 'fit'" - not "balance" but "fit" - as she was clear to repeat over and over in case we didn't get the message. Gives ways to make small incremental changes in your life to get a fit that works for you; it's been done better in other books.
