Sweet, dreamy, steamy, sometimes slightly seamy, a multi-genre short story collection by 15 authors for every taste. Prepared by the BBT Cafe authors: Marian Allen, Shonell Bacon, Karen Casey Fitzjerrell, W.S. Gager, Helen Ginger, Dani Greer, S.B. Lerner, Audrey Lintner, Morgan Mandel, Maryann Miller, Bodie Parkhurst, Bob Sanchez, Mary Montague Sikes, Red Tash, Christine Verstraete.
This is a collection of stories in a variety of genres, written by different authors. As would be expected in this situation, I liked some of the stories a lot and didn't care for others. The only connection between the stories was that each had to include The Corner Cafe, but the cafe was different in each story. It might have been interesting to have used one Corner Cafe as a setting for all the stories to have some unity among the stories. However, with each author able to create their own Corner Cafe, every reader is likely to find at least one cafe and one story that appeals to them.
A fun collection of short stories by fellow authors. We each had to use the words "Corner Cafe" at least once in the story, but other than that, these are completely different and very creative quick reads.
It is very difficult to review this book of short stories since each story is by a different author. Different styles, different subjects, some short, some long, some funny, some sad, some very good and some not so good. Sadly, although some stories deserve four stars and unfortunately, others maybe only two, I decided to give a three star rating as a compromise. I will not name names of which stories I liked and which left me cold since everyone's taste in reading is not the same and it's possible that some might disagee with what I liked and what I did not like but I have to say one story gave me a bit of a flashback and a laugh that one was Gila Monster.
I do think most readers will find something that they enjoy if they read this book.
I have really enjoyed sampling all the different stories on the menu here. Sometimes we get in the comfort zone of what we read most often, for me it is mystery, and it is nice to break out of that and read other genres.
A great variety of short stories so there is something to please everyone. I especially like the links provided in the kindle edition to see author's websites.
