Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.

Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.

Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.

According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.

Just coming across this on goodreads has made me nostalgic : I can already smell the old pages of these books passed onto me by my family, remember lying in bed on a sick day powering through one of them (I don't recall the feeling of being ill so much anymore),listening to a cassette tape of another time and time again, the imagination and dreams this sparked... One of those books that really connected with me as a child and made me dream of going to boarding school and having my own adventures. ♥

Staying at my other Nan's I came across this collection owned by my Auntie. I remember sitting on the swing in my Nan's garden reading St Clare's and becoming nervous of the prospect of going to high school with the older girls stealing potted ham and jolly cakes from my tuck box.

I enjoyed these stories as a child and remember my mum reading them to me as well as reading them myself. While being dated I still enjoyed them. I think I liked the first few books more than the later ones, but it was still fun to escape into another life of a fun, boarding school.

meskipun kategori buku anak-anak dan ngebacanya pas kuliah tapi ceritast. claire the series ini ga ngebosenin ataupun terlalu kekanakan. ceritanya ringan, dan seolah olah membawa kita ke dunia sekolah asrama inggris.
