A wonderfully fun book by one of the best Shakespeare scholars of the twentieth century and one of the nicest people in academia. Kenneth believed that Shakespeare evolved as an artist as he aged and that this can be seen by studying his comedies in sequence. His sequence is not my sequence and so I would interpret several minor things differently, but there is much insight and wisdom to be found in these pages.

Muir, in his introduction describes his intention to continue, or go beyond G.L.Barber's SHAKESPEARE'S FESTIVE COMEDY. He doesn't.
