The billion heirs. They inherit it all. Brothers who've never met and are content to keep it that way. A will dictates otherwise. A new family legacy will be formed. Or destroyed.

“ I… I don’t have a home.”
“ I don’t have one either. But, baby, I think I just realized that home isn’t a place. It’s a person. And my home’s with you. “

4.5⭐️

What a fantastic series starter! I was so intrigued how these two authors styles would intersect, and with a cover that felt outside of the box for them both, I was thirsty to dive in. The story wasn't quite what I expected, in a great way- and Vanessa erotic swoon paired with Helen's weaving of trauma and tension paired together perfect. Both authors brought their flair for drama and twists, and this fast paced read sucked me right in. The characters are interesting, the family dynamic compelling, and the setting unexpected. This is a page turner with the right amount of drama, steam, and emotion. I loved seeing this newly created family come together, and the chemistry aplenty. These Billion Heirs are certainly captivating, and I'm super excited for more of this series!

A los 4 días de haberse conocido ya se juraban amor eterno, like what's going on with you?

Is it just me, or did I have higher hopes for the story? I was anticipating additional information about the kidnapping and its context, but instead I received something different. I admired Carly's courage and determination in resurrecting herself which is why I never disliked her. Austin, he was uninteresting. I knew how possessive he was and how he would always look after Carly and his mother, but he didn't pique my curiosity.

“It took me about a second to realize you’re my first priority,” he says.
“Mom is right up there, in second place, and Chance and Miles and the ranch in third. But you, Carly Vance, are everything to me.”

Now I'm not sure if I should be glad that he prioritized his girl first than his mother because it mentions how his mother fell and fractured her hip, but it does state later on that her prognosis is good. We may all read this in a positive or negative way, but I'm not sure if I should be happy about it. But, friends, he feels horrible for abandoning his mother, despite the fact that she insisted.

Right now this is a 2.75 ✨. I would like to let this sink in and see if something changes.

This is an excellent start to a new series by a duo who I definitely want more from! These two authors teamed up to deliver a story that is perfectly balanced. The dark, the light. The despair, the hope. The shadows that want to engulf the sons who don’t deserve to be painted with the awful brush that painted a father none of them knew or loved, and the bond that is forming to keep these three standing in the face of small town stupidity and possibly even more evil.

Carly has survived some of the worst. And I mean THE. WORST. She’s clawing her way back to actually living, but she’s afraid she’ll always be faking it. Then she meets Austin Bridger. Sparks fly, parts long since dormant inside her body and soul come alive, and the best part is that Austin sure doesn’t shy away from her past. He offers himself on a silver platter to be her now and forever, if she allows it. She just has to allow it.

As for Austin, he sure never expected to like his brothers. Or find love. But here he is, liking his brothers more every day and falling in love. Even when disaster strikes in a few ways, he and his brothers stick together to make it through to the other side, and their refusal to be seen as simply Bridger sons makes quite the impression when it counts.

I adore how Carly and Austin find their way, and I know that there’s a lot coming ahead. I just hope I can be patient enough to wait for Miles’s story and maybe some answers to a huge body of questions that need to be answered.

I didn't know what to expect going into this book. I knew I would like it because Helen Hardt is one of my favourite authors, however, I hadn't read anything by Vanessa Vale but I was not disappointed, this was fantastic, it was such a page-turner, This book was full of twists and turns and kept me second guessing everything about these two. I couldn't put it down. I loved Carly and Austin so much! I NEED MORE!!

These authors together are amazing and I'm excited to see where they go with this series!

This is book one in The Billion Heirs series and it is Austin and Carly's story and omg what a great start to a new series. Austin's father left when his mom was pregnant with him so Austin never met him not that it mattered because his mom was everything to him and he would do anything for her but now Austin has been informed that his father had died and Austin is set to inherit a lot of money which he could do with to help keep the business afloat and pay his mom's medical bills but there is a stipulation in the will and Austin will have to live one year in Montana at the Bridger Ranch and work with his two half brother's and even though he is not happy about this he will do it for his mom and the money. Carly had got a job working at the Bridger Ranch with the animals and she is really looking forward to it and also to start getting her life back on track and to some sense of normality after what she had been through and the nightmares that she still suffered from. Austin and Carly had instant attraction and strong chemistry between them but Austin didn't do relationships but then what he felt for Carly had never happened to him before but will they do anything about it especially as he is only there for a year. There are twists and turns along the way that have you turning the pages wondering what would happen next and I absolutely loved how the brother's started to connect with each other and had each other's backs when they needed it and it was so addictive that I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to read the next book. This is the first book that I have read by these author's and they definitely didn't disappoint and I can't wait to read more book's in the future.

I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

In order to get his inheritance Austin must spend a year on his father’s (if you can call him that) farm with his two half-brothers. Brothers he didn’t even know existed. The only thing that helped make this decision was the money he will inherit will be used for his mother’s medical bills and even be able to purchase more planes for their struggling business. What he never thought he would find was two men who were strangers to him prior to their father’s death who he now considers his brothers and not in name only. He also never expected to find love.
Carly is trying to put her life back together again after being kidnapped. She never thought she would find love after what she went through on that island. She just wants to feel normal. She doesn’t want people to treat her like fragile glass.
From her first meeting with Austin she felt something she never thought she would feel. He made her feel. It may have been fast but if there was one thing she learned from being kidnapped is to never waste time. To take advantage of the time you have because tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Their relationship took off from their first encounter and grew to something forevers are made of. This is the first book of the series and I cannot wait for more. I could not put it down. Vanessa Vale and Helen Hardt have co-written an incredible read. Once you start you will not stop until the final word. It is that good.

Austin is a hardworking hero who would do anything for his mother, even leaving her to work at a ranch in Montana with the half brothers he knew nothing about in order to receive the inheritance from the father he didn't know (who died). He doesn't want to take the money, but again, he would do anything for his mother. Carly was a girl working towards her degree in veterinary medicine when she was abducted & held for three years. She's trying to start her life again when she takes a job at the Bridger Ranch's stables, and this is where she comes face to face with Austin. Carly went through so much hell, and she didn't let it defeat her, but it's not like she was perfectly okay either. These authors did an amazing job at writing Carly so realistically in the aftermath, not to mention, our hero wasn't the answer for her healing, nope, he just accepted all her broken parts & would support her in any way she needed as he got to know her. This story hit me square in the feels, and it was quite addictive as I read in one sitting. I CANNOT WAIT for more of this new series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Read this book if you like: Dual POV, small town, romance with suspense, spicy 🔥

**Check triggers.

Austin Bridger had just learned that his estranged did has just died and left him a billion dollars. The catch is he must leave his home and family to claim it. He is struggling to keep his seaplane business afloat and help his ailing mother so the money could really help. His father never even acknowledged his existence. He also discovered he has two half brothers. To receive the inheritance, they must all live on his father’s Montana ranch for a year.

Carly Vance was a student in veterinary school when her dream was shattered. She was abducted from a diner in her small town. Then, she was held captive on a South Pacific island for three years. Now she’s home, but her scars run deep. Trying to reclaim her life, she bravely takes a job in Bridger Ranch’s stables. Her parents are not happy.

I LOVED this one. Wow. I am obsessed with Austin and Carly. This book is sweet, sexy, and fast paced. There were definitely some dark elements in this romance, especially the discussions about Carly’s past. The flow of this book and the writing were so perfectly done. You can't even tell it was written by two people. It's amazing. I am so excited to read the next two books about the other brothers.

Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for the gifted book. ❤️

Wow. This book. WOW.

When I picked this up, I was expecting to like it, but I wasn't expecting for it to grab me in immediately. I found myself waiting for work breaks or to get home just so I could read more - because each page had me on the edge of my seat. Even now, I'm still reeling, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the second book!

Vanessa Vale & Helen Hardt did such a fantastic job with this book. Seriously. It's one thing to write an excellent romance (which they did!) but the way they wrote Carly is something that I absolutely love. In a lot of books I've read, the female MC tends to be "broken," and the LI "fixes" her. This is not that kind of book, and it was one of my favorite things. It was so refreshing to see a character who wasn't perfect, and the love interest loved her anyway, flaws and scars and all. It's so refreshing to see a female MC who can take charge of her own life, especially after going through something terrible, and I loved that she stood up for herself, and the LI didn't do it for her. Basically, I LOVE Carly, and I love that Vanessa & Helen wrote such a tough, loveable, and scarred woman.

I could go on and on about how much I adored this book. I highly recommend that everyone pick this up upon its release.

Scarred by Vanessa Vale and Helen Hardt was absolutely the best book I've read this year! I scenery of small town Montana meets 3 step brothers from all walks of life and the love story of the century! Austin Bridger is put into a situation which would leave anyone's head spinning. But through all the change, he meets Carly Vance. Carly has been through her own struggles which no women should ever have to endure. But through it all, they find a way to be with eachother and find that security they each need. These characters are amazing and left me wanting so much more. The authors have set this book up for the series perfectly and I can't wait to see where it goes next. I have a feeling we will get more steam and mischief with the other 2 Bridger brothers Chance and Miles and I'm here for it!

This book broke my heart in places. I felt so bad for everything Carly had been through in her past. She just wants to live her life after all the stuff she's been through. Austin never knew his father so he was shocked to discover he and his two half brothers are set to claim their father's inheritance. He needs the money to help his mom and his business which is slowly going under. Of course, you know there are going to be conditions in order to get the money. This story drew me in from the first page. I love Vanessa Vale's stories and while I've heard of Helen Hardt, I've never read any of her books. I think that will be changing. I honestly loved this story and I loved how Austin treated Carly normally instead of like someone who was going to break! I can't wait for the next story!

Scarred by Vanessa Vale and Helen Hardt is the first book in a brand new series called The Billion Heirs where secrets, lies, and inheritance dominates the story of the remaining Bridger family members as they are forced to reside in the small town of Bayfield, Montana. With the death of their father and other forces at play, half-brothers Austin, Miles, and Chance must reunite and come to terms with the secrets and consequences of their lineage. I thoroughly enjoyed Austin and Carly's story as they were both likeable characters and had their own problems to overcome. Although Austin is struggling to keep afloat with his sick mother and declining business, his perseverance, protective nature, and determination to see things through made him a worthy hero. Carly was a victim of a horrific kidnapping that scarred her physically and emotionally but her courage to move on and be normal made her an admirable heroine.

"But when Austin Bridger looks at me, I don't feel scarred. I don't feel like… less than whole. I don't feel damaged. I feel like the most beautiful woman in the world."

Austin Bridger and Carly Vance's story was romantic, refreshing, and shocking at times because of many secrets between both families. Prior to staying in Montana, Austin owned a sea piloting business and lived in Seattle with his mother. After finding out about his inheritance, he reluctantly left to the Bridger ranch in Montana and finds love unexpectedly with Carly who is trying to heal and resume the life she had before her abduction. I was actually quite surprised by the chemistry and sexual tension between Austin and Carly. I did not expect Austin to be such a dirty talker but he was exactly what Carly needed and I loved that for her. She did not want to think of herself as broken. While everyone in town was careful around her, Austin was the only one who made her feel normal, feminine, and desirable again.

"Maybe I didn't dodge it after all. It sure feels like a bullet is lodged right in the center of my heart—in the shape of Carly Vance."

In the end, this was a strong introduction to the Bridger family and I look forward to reading Miles and Chance's stories next. Austin never expected to find love with Carly nor a strong brotherly bond his with half-brothers but he did. Despite their differences, they all hated their father. Their mutual dislike for Jonathan Bridger and desire to make things right with Carly's father brought them together. I also loved the fact that Carly didn't need Austin to fix her because she wanted to do it herself. Despite her horrible past, Carly wanted to feel desired and loved—and she eventually found that with Austin. This was my first time reading Vanessa Vale and I was impressed with her writing. I already know and am a fan of Helen Hardt so the steamy love scenes was no surprise to me. Fans of the small town and billionaire romance will enjoy this book as a features a sweet and protective hero who adores his independent heroine as she overcomes her own trauma.

Scarred is book one of The Billion Heirs series of interconnected standalones. I devoured this book! As soon as it hit my kindle I couldn’t put it down! Carly has a traumatic past and she just wants to heal and make a life for herself. She is tired of everyone in town pitying her…she just wants to be normal. That is one thing I loved most about Austin…he treated her with respect and care. He only showed her love. Austin is uprooted from his life when his father passes away. A father that he has never even met! The only way for him to get his inheritance is to move from Seattle to Montana and live with two brothers he has never met for a year.

I love how strong Carly is after everything she’s been through. I also love the personal growth she has throughout the book. We are left with lots of questions regarding the elder Bridger and I can’t wait for Miles’s book to get some of the answers! I’m already in love with the Bridger brothers and can’t wait for more of them!

3-star review!!!

Such a cute read! I honestly loved how Austin didn’t treat Carly any different despite her past trauma. It was quite refreshing. Also the whole concept of this book was great, I just wish it would have been executed slightly better. At times it felt like the book didn’t have the ups and downs I wanted. I wish there would have been more at stake between Austin and Carly. Nevertheless, it was a very cute read and I do recommend if you want a light, fluffy romance.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: instalove, small town, romantic suspense
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Scarred is a super cute insta-love by the writing duo of Helen Hardt and Vanessa Vale. It is the first book in the Billion Heirs series and while the couple gets their HEA, the series ends on a cliffhanger. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

Overall, I really liked this story and will definitely be reading the next books about the other Bridger brothers. This was a super sweet instalove that did have some darker themes, especially in regards to the heroine’s past trauma. Carley was really likable and proved over and over how strong and resilient she was. And Austin was completely feeling it. Despite his farkboy past, he was drawn to Carley from the start and quickly all in. The story was fast paced with some romantic suspense elements that will keep you hooked to the end. Can’t wait for Miles book!

I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting into with this book, but I'm glad I trusted it to take me along for the adventure. This book had three handsome, yet estranged brothers, a girl trying to move on with her life, and a town with too many secrets.

I was intrigued right off the bat by this plot. That could have to do with the fact that The Inheritance Games series just ended and I'm missing the whole 'poor kid just inherited billions' plot, but I'm okay with that. This book had a nice Cinderella moment, but it also had two flawed main characters trying to do whatever they could to take care of those around them. It had a bit of mystery and intrigue. And it had lots of romantic, spicy moments.

I'm mildly conflicted by the romance for a couple of reasons. One, Austin and Carly's relationship started out very lusty. But also started out a bit like insta-love? That was acknowledged in the book though so I appreciate the authors knowing the characters were moving quickly with this relationship. I wouldn't quite describe them as friends with benefits, but it was a beneficial relationship in the beginning. I did like that they were friends to lovers. I've been reading about so many broody men resisting the women they like so this was a nice change of pace.

The book felt kinda short or rushed. I wish it would have been longer because I felt like the book ended right when we were getting into the meat of the story and Austin and Carly's relationship. It is nice that there is some mystery being carried over into the next book. I was left with lots of unanswered questions but that just makes me excited for the next book!

Some dark topics were broached, but the book didn't feel dark. The hope Carly had for her future and her desire to heal and move on was inspiring. It gave the book a lighter mood despite everything being discussed.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and will be sticking around for book two. I can't wait to learn more about the bad boy brother from NYC!

this book was cute! this trilogy follows 3 brothers, in scarred it’s the oldest brother austin, who need to live and work at their family’s ranch in order to inherit $3 billion from their father.

it also follows carly, who’s storyline i thought was interesting to read about. a few years ago, she was abducted and taken to an island where she lived on for three years. scarred shows her learning to have a relationship again after that experience.

at times i was a bit annoyed and frustrated with the main characters (didn’t agree with some of the decision they made), buy overall the story was enjoyable. it was also very fast paced and i flew through it!

my personal favorite brother was probably miles, who is the brother that leads the next book. the epilogue of this book is in his point of view and there’s a cliffhanger, so i’ll definitely be continuing the series!

Small town romance troop this one is for you!

Austin is struggling with his business and trying to keep on top of her mother’s medical bills. When he learns that his late father has left him a billion dollars but he needs to go to Montana for a year along with his step brothers. Willing to get that money to put it back to his business and help his mom he leaves for an adventure.

Carly was having lunch at a diner in her hometown of Montana when she was suddenly taken and kidnapped. When she is rescued everyone around here keeps acting different and treating her like she’s going to break.

Carly is taken a back when she meets Austin at the ranch she is working. He sees her as a woman. As someone who isn’t broken.

Will these two get their happy ending? We will have to wait because this book left us on a cliff hanger!

This was a quick read.

There was a lot going on with Carly and I thought that we would get more of her story. I did like the normalization of therapy and getting over what happened to her in a healthy way. I thought Austin was a good match for Carly too. He was so gentle, kind and patient with her.

I did find this book very insta-lovey. They were together for a week or a bit more and they were already in love. That was a bit much for me. The book also seemed a little rushed, like the authors wanted to quickly get to the HEA and then cut it off (probably setting up for the next story). I found myself wanting more in this story and see more of what was going to happen.

“‘None of that matters to me. Only you. You matter.’”
This may have been a fast romance which usually isn’t my cup of tea but I did enjoy it so much!
Both characters have been through stuff, Carly a lot more than Austin has.
Carly has only been home for two years after being kidnapped and is ready to live her life.
Austin is only there for his inheritance from his father who was never in his life.
But from their very first meeting there was a spark and chemistry. Neither want to back down from a feeling they never felt before and both refuse to no matter how much the people around them disapprove.
I love these two, especially Carly who has been through hell and back but is so strong. Facing her fears, putting herself back out into the world, even working for at the ranch after finding out stuff. Seriously can’t wait to see what happens in Miles’ story!!

Holy cow! I love this book! What a way to start the series! Austin is one of the Bridger brothers and they have to come together to live on the ranch owned by their deceased father. He didn’t even know he had brothers. He runs into Carly at the ranch and he sees a beautiful woman. She is working with the vet. During the book we learned about some trauma she has been through. Can they make it work?
You can’t go wrong reading this book written by two of my favorite authors Vanessa Vale and Helen Hardt. They are always must reads for me.

Scarred is the 1st book in the series.
I couldn’t put it down. I loved how Helen and Vanessa writing styles blended perfectly together.
Austin had to uproot his life to be granted his inheritance from a man he didn’t know.
Carley is trying to get on with her life after dealing with a traumatic past.

The love between them was practically instant and Austin helped Carley grow and become stronger. Out of the darkness comes the light.

If you love small town romance with a twist than this book is for you.
I can’t wait to read book 2.

This had almost the same vibe as The Mountain Men series by Gemma Weir. Very insta-love/lust and similar writing styles.

Loved everything about this book. I have been a die hard Helen Hardt fan for years and have dabbled a little with Vanessa Vale, but let me tell you...these 2 together are dynamite. This story is amazing and I can't wait to see what happens next for these half brothers. I would give this book 10 stars if I could.

Intriguing storyline with plot twists. Dynamic characters. Nice crossover from another great series by Helen Hardt. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was an amazing collaboration by two very talented authors and a great start to the Billion Heirs series. Austin and Carly’s story was packed full of emotion, family drama, and secrets. I loved all the unexpected twists and turns and I can’t wait to see how it will all unfold.
