This was an excellent overview of meditation. It had many ideas and lots of permutations. I didn't make it all the way through this book, so I'd like to get it again. It had lots of different visualizations to use for both beginning and advanced meditataors, one of which I have already used with Abish and she loves it.

My beef with this book was that it was assumed that once you wanted to meditate you had "graduated" or outgrown the need for organized Christian religion. As if I would have no need to meditate if I had my Faith, and vice versa. I find pondering and meditating an important part of my faith and keeps me balanced so I can remain "uncluttered" on the inside and remain open to promptings of the Spirit. Anyway, this was definitely a case of "take what works for you and leave the rest".

I have attempted to read several books related to meditation and have always felt that I was over my head. This book was the ticket for me and I have enjoyed my fledgling practice.

I thought this was a good overview of how to get started with meditation and it's filled with different exercises focusing on different aspects, which was an interested read.

I did not finish this book. I only read about the first 50 or so pages. I had picked this book because it was supposed to be for anybody, not a religious or spiritual book. But there is too much of that stuff in there all over. If a spiritual/religious book on meditation doesn't bother you then I'm sure this book is just fine for. But if you would like void of those things I'd say keep looking.

illustrations and a variety of mediations (focus, growth and healing) make it a good base. It also has the steps for visualization, centering, etc.
