In textbook style the author presents facts and data concerning cardinals. These include a description of their lives from birth until death, and a year in their lives, information on cardinal behavior, as well as tips on where to site bird feeders, and how to attract cardinals and other birds to your bird feeder. The book ends with a compilation of miscellany related to cardinals.

This is a nice book for birders especially those who are new to the field.

It rates 3.5 stars.

The photographs jump out at you. Number one reason to pick the book up. I was interested in cardinals so that clinched it, had to take the book home to read. I learned much about the cardinal that I didn't know. Even though I love cardinals, I had no idea just how popular this red bird is. If anyone feeds birds in their backyard, then buy this book for them.

Recently several cardinals have decided to make my back yard their home. Wanting to learn a little more about them, I picked up this book. It is an interesting, short read that definitely helps you understand these awesome birds better. Entertaining, informative but not dry.

I'd recommend it.
