A novel of the pressures of modern marriage--love, lust, faith, betrayal--follows the lives of the Hammonds--Michael, a young professor of English, and Kate, a film producer--through a one year separation in which their marriage dramatically changes
This book was written as an epistolary novel, so it might be foreign to modern readers. Marsh makes this form look effortless but it is expertly crafted. The book weaves in works of art, poems, and astute observations about the human condition. I was deeply moved by this novel and highly recommend it.
