Another stellar read in the "Cochran/Devereaux" series by author Melanie Schuster
Dr. John Flores was adopted and loved by his parents. But he discovers that his former patient is his sister and is soon reunited with his biological father and his brothers. If you read book 6 then you will know that John was dying from a liver disease and his brother Adam gave him part of his to help him live. All of this was made possible by his very efficient ghost writer Nina Whitney, she helped nurse him back to health and has become his friend and confidant.
Dr. John Flores is at his brother Adam's wedding and he sees Nina Whitney aka Ms. Parker (as he has nicknamed her), not as his stuffy, no-nonsense and cold as ice ghost writer but she has transformed into a goddess right before his eyes. John can't keep his eyes off of her and his heart has found what he had always secretly longed for. As he watches Nina dance and have a great time, he has an overwhelming urge to have her all to himself, so John acts like a neandertal and takes her away from her dance partner LOLLL!!! His latin temper was on fire because he was determined that nobody was going to have Nina except for him.
Nina Whitney the ghost writer that has the magic touch to turn anybody's book into a bestseller, and known as being cold as ice, has fallen in love with Dr. John Flores but for her it was love at first sight. She can dream about him but he would never know how she felt and besides she is not the fawning or sappy type of woman. Nina Whitney has had a hard life, at one time she was with a loving mother and her two brothers but when her mom died, she was bounced around until she finally ran away and lived on the streets. A chance meeting as a home attendant with an elderly woman changed her course in life. After the woman passed away, she left money for Nina and taught her how to invest it and invest in herself. Nina went to part time while working to obtain her bachelor's degree. Nina has suffered plenty of losses in her lifetime and giving her heart to John only to have her heart broken is not on the list.
Dr. John Flores is determined to show Nina just how great the can be together and he promises to make with her from now on beautiful memories. Nina begins to let her guard down and share with John little by little the traumas and heartache she has suffered in her life. John made a promise to her that he will never let anyone or anybody hurt her again. All seems well for them both until Nina receives a phone call that changes everything for her. After taking care of John's manuscript for the release of his book, she leaves a note and runs. John is devastated that she would just leave him like that. His brother Adam has a plan to help his brother win back the love of his life.
A really great story of loss, love and triumph. It will make you laugh, cry and root for the couple. It was also great catching up with the Cochrans and Deveraux clan. Towards the end of the book, we get an introduction to the next story which will be Titus Argonne and Paris Deveraux, their story I am looking forward to reading.
External Conflict: Nina vs. John Nina is the ghostwriter John's publisher assigned to him. John is starting to get attracted by Nina but Nina is hard to get. She says that life has taught her that she's on her own and with that said, she doesn't want to fall for any guy too easily. When John gives her any nice complements, she either ignores them or acts as if she's too good for him.
Internal Conflict: Nina vs. her feelings Deep down Nina finds John attractive. She likes him but she doesn't want to show him how she really feels towards him. I believe she's fighting with her feelings because she should just tell John how she feels instead of playing with his feelings and getting her feelings mixed up too.

Another one for the record books. I fall more in love with these families with each book I read. John's and Nina's story is amazing and heartfelt. The pain that Nina had to endure growing up is unthinkable, no one should ever have to endure all that pain and strife at any age but definitely not a young girl. Glad it turned out that she was able to turn her life around and thank you John and Titus for reuniting her with all her family from over those years when she was growing up alone.
this book was very romantic and beautiful. one story I believed as readers would love to see and read about is the story of Titias Argonne and Paris story. please Mrs. Melanie Schuster, write the story of Titias and Paris, and their romantic beginning and how does the ending happened. those two fated couple are another two beautiful couples that I know your fans will love to read about. thank you
