Angelique Deveraux and Donnie Cochran know each other via their families businesses and varied social functions. Of course, they don't like each other - but somehow they ended up being married in Las Vegas, and before they can get around to getting the marriage annulled, Angelique gets pregnant. Will they go through with the charade, or will they grow to love each other.
This book was a bunch of hokum. It doesn't help that in the author's notes, Ms Schuster thinks that she did a bang up job re: Angel and Donnie, while I was going, "WTF?". For one, Angel, the main character is supposed to be 'rich and complex' (the writer's notes, not mine), but in the book she's just described as looking "adorable" and about two paragraphs of what Angel is wearing. Oh and she's a crackerjack photojournalist who discovered her calling late in life. Oh, okay. Because photojournalism is just that *easy* and yet, we don't see much about Angel's occupation, even though it's her life.
Donnie (his real name is Adonis. Really)is annoying, but he tries to do right by Angel, in terms of protecting her from her family's ire although he makes a humongous cockup along the way.
In addition to this, Ms Schuster's writing style is annoying. There are so many characters in the book (that annoying Paris, for example) so you can't really get a 'lock' in on the main characters, and everyone is so two dimensional. They are either angry or smug.
Very good book. I loved the story and the characters, for the most part. Naming your son Adonis, is so not needed. I really hate these perfect families where everyone is tall, successful, reach, intelligent, and beautiful. Angelique was supposed to be the black sheep because she wasn't tall at 5'7"(that's freaking tall to me), she was dyslexic and because of that it took her a while to find what she was good at. But she also just so beautiful but she wanted to be full figured, so her being slender was a flaw to her. I'm glad Angelique was not a virgin and that Donnie's ex only had a bit part in the story. I loved the banter between Donnie and Angel before they got together, it was hilarious. All in all its was a good read and Melanie Schuster is one of my go to authors so I will be reading more from her.
first and foremost I've read books 1-4 and so far book five is my favourite. who knows, I may say that about book 6 but u never know when it comes to melanie schuster. I loved loved Angel and her girls they just brightened the whole series, both Donnie and angle gave us what we wanted. I laughed and laughed even cried too. most importantly I was happy that their story weren't told too early and overcrowded by babies. I'll recommend this book to every and anyone, my only disappointed is that after book 6 the others are not available as kindle version.
Another great story from the series. Angelique was no angel in the last three books. In fact, she was a selfish, mean, annoying character. And then Angelique's childhood is revealed in this book and it all makes a lot of sense. So glad that Donnie hung in there and didn't give up! The wedding in Vegas was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing!
Donnie and Angelique prove that you there's a thin line between love and hate. Donnie and Angelique were arch enemies. A trip to Las Vegas changed everything and love is in the air and a lot of drama, confusion, and love worth fighting for. A recommend read.
I absolutely fell in love with this story. Donnie and Angel have turned their strong dislike for each other into a love that was so pure and potent I could feel it as I turned page after page. I can't wait until I read the next one.
I love reading books about family. I am going Donnie and Angel found true love with each other. With them going at each other in previous books it was just a matter of time for them to fall in love with each other.
