My Little House Cookbook [With Apron]

Rate this book
Long, long ago, a little girl named Laura Ingalls traveled across America in a covered wagon with her Pa, her Ma, her sisters, Mary and Carrie and their good old bulldog, Jack. The little houses they lived in were always filled with good smells of Ma's cooking, and Laura and Mary often helped make many delicious foods that pioneer families enjoyed so long ago. Here are some of Laura's favorite recipes, ready for you to try in your own little house!

I like that everything is from scratch, unlike most kids cookbooks that want you to use boxed mixes or pre-made items, however there’s only a few recipes:
Pancakes, Sausage Balls, butter & jam sandwiches, buttermilk cornbread, oatmeal, homemade butter, maple cakes, lemonade, butter cookies, popcorn and milk, and homemade strawberry jam.

I read this book as part of a summer reading program at our library where we had to read a cookbook, make a recipe and take a picture and post it to the site. I love all things Laura Ingalls, and these recipes are easy for kids and fun to try. Then you can have a snack and read more Laura books. My daughter made the oatmeal and read this book for her challenge.

The Little House book series was one of my favorites that I read with my children. It certainly would add to the experience using some of these recipes together.
