James Ponti is the New York Times Bestselling author of three Middle Grade book series: the DEAD CITY trilogy about a secret society that polices the undead who live beneath New York City; the Edgar Award-winning FRAMED! series about a pair of Sherlockian tweens who solve mysteries in Washington, D.C.; and the all-new CITY SPIES about an unlikely squad of five kids from around the world who form an elite MI6 spy team.
James grew up in Atlantic Beach, Florida and lives in Orlando. He's a die hard fan of the Boston Red Sox, the USC Trojans, and the Italian National Soccer Team. He loves travel, writing, and spending time with his amazing family.
When I was in high school, Lizzie McGuire and Raven rocked my world like hardly anything else. I lived for new episodes of those shows; when I got in trouble, I'd be grounded from them! (Who else do you know who can honestly say he or she was grounded from a Disney Channel sitcom? Didn't think so.) This novelization brings together two early Raven episodes: the one where Raven falls hard for her jazz-playing classmate Kwizz, and the one where her mishap during a volleyball game leads her to the Sleevemore Center for Psychic Research. Those are among my favorites from the series, so, that makes this even better.
However, I do have one complaint: Some of the dialogue is not quite as I remember it; then again, it's been years since I've seen these episodes. Maybe that was the way the original script was written; I just remember not only hearing the words differently, but also seeing them that way, since I've pretty much always watched television with closed captioning on for the past two decades or so.
