Wisper Dreams #4

Light Betrays Us

Rate this book
Deputy Abey Lee has never found love, but she wants it. Only problem? Identifying as a card-carrying lesbian is front-page news, especially when she's the only female law enforcement officer in small-town Wisper, Wyoming. Her sexuality isn’t exactly a secret, but she’s worked hard to not let it become a headline. When she’s offered a promotion that would put her in charge at the station, coming out into the light of day could risk her chance at love, and it’s only made worse by her fear of losing respect from her peers and the people she’s sworn to protect.

When Abey finds herself handcuffing the spitfire community center director—the same woman she spent one white-hot summer night with, who kissed Abey like she meant it and made her blush all the way down to her boots—her black-and-white world bleeds into grays.

Devo Mescal stands tall and proud in the light, but she carries the world on her shoulders; she fights every wrong, every injustice…and lands herself in Abey’s jail cell every damn time. If she could cool her jets, she’d see that the woman of her dreams is on the other side of those iron bars, holding the key that could unlock her hardened protestor’s heart.

The fourth book in the Wisper Dreams series, Light Betrays Us, is a steamy small-town Western FF romance about accepting who you were born to be and following the light, wherever it may lead you. Intended for readers 18+.

Trigger Warning: Homophobia, misogyny, and douche-as*ery are present in this book, but these ladies know how to take the numbnuts down a notch! **Please see the full trigger warning in the front of the book**

We’re back in Wisper, and this time it’s Abey’s turn to find someone special.
From the moment Greta Rose hinted she was going to share her story,i’d been waiting “patiently” to hear more, and it paid off…..i got the ARC!!
What i got was the story of 2 women struggling with life, each in their own way.
Who need eachother, but have a way to go before they can be together.
An emotional story, one that Greta Rose put into words in the most beautiful way possible.

Abey may have admitted she was gay,but her father, who always said he loved her, reacted very badly at the time.
And even though he died years ago,she still could hear what he said….and how he treated her after that.
But even though mother had refused to talk about it,and still didn’t,she didn’t turn her away…….
If only she’d explain how she felt about it all,if only she’d shown Abey she still loved her,in spite of her being gay!
Being a deputy was another barrier for her….she worried people would treat her differently once they knew, and she already felt she’d had to fight to get the job….
Yes,her colleagues and closest friends knew, and were ok with it,but what about the rest of Wisper?

Devo was a firm believer in fighting for the right to be who you are,and she didn’t shy away from confronting others.
Her mother raised her to embrace who she was,and she did 100%.
But when she was at work at Ace’s House, she was confronted by narrowmindedness every day.
Take the neighbouring store-owner,Red.
He not only took offence and told her so,he displayed it in his storefront for all of Wisper to see.
There should be a law against it,right?
So,why did she get arrested every time she tried to do something about it?

When Abey and Devo see eachother after Abey abandoned a blind date gone wrong, something changes.
Devo sees the woman behind the badge.
And Abey sees the woman behind the trouble she causes.
The attraction is there, but can they build it into a relationship?

Devo and Red are forced to exchange jobs,to experience the other side of things.
That, and other things, changes their perspective eventually.
Abey is asked by Carey to act as sheriff when he’s called to do work out of town, and while the responsibility weighs, she enjoys the work.
But Devo wants something she’s afraid to give…a relationship for all to see.
What will it take to change her mind?

Greta Rose took these two beautiful souls by the hand, and guided them towards a wonderful hea. Introducing new people as she went along.
People i’m interested in getting to know a little better….

And while she told a beautiful story of finding love, she also told another story.
One she told before, with Kevin and Luuk, with Theo and Brady.
A story of accepting people as they are.
Of respecting their choices in life and love.
There shouldn’t be any reason for people to struggle with who and how they love someone.
They’re not harming others, they just want to be able to love the one they feel is their person.

4.25 - 4.5 stars!

Light Betrays Us is arguably the most emotionally transformative novel of the Wisper Dreams series. My first FF read, Abey and Devo were two beautiful women bound to the expectations of the people around them and thus reacted in different ways to the way they approached their lives.

Devo was the wild and fierce justice warrior that fought for what she believed in. Did she always go about it the right way? Obviously not but her heart was in the right place and when she is thrown into a new experience, her perspective changes a bit.

Abey grew up without full acceptance and hasn’t lived her life openly and honestly. It’s a battle she fights every day but she wants love and companionship. Devo is a light in her world but she has yet to claim that light for her own.

Devo and Abey desperately want each other but Devo isn’t content to live in the shadows and Abey is scared of grabbing onto happiness. Will these two find their way to each other?

This was a wonderful story about finding love, learning to offer and accept love in return and live with an open heart and mind no matter where you come from or the beliefs you hold. It was a story about seeing every human as a unique living and breathing being with feelings and dreams and not as a collective label to be judged or ridiculed.

I loved Devo and Abey’s relationship development and the secondary characters that brought so much zest to this story. The steam in Light Betrays Us was meaningful and deliberate which I think really made me connect on a deeper level to their path to their HEA.

Greta has done a wonderful job at creating exquisite characters that jump off the page and pull you into their world and experience their triumphs and hardships as if they were your own. Devo and Abey were just such a lovely couple that deserved their happily ever after!

“Baby, you comin’?” There were stars in her eyes and dreams splashed across her beautiful face, etched into the tilt of her smile.

“With you? Always.”

I highly recommend this series and the series connected to this world - Cade Ranch! Happy reading!

As always, Greta Rose West has created another book that was hard to put down. Light Betrays Us, like Greta’s other Wisper Dreams series & The Cade Ranch series, deal with hard to read about issues, but she does it in a way to help with understanding hard issues. Just like every time after I finish one of Greta’s books, I can’t wait until I get my hands on the next book. Thanks for including me in your ARC readers.

"Love is love" . Abey and Devo's story was magic. I loved the journey and transformation the characters went through. And the spice 💥!! - something I didn't know I needed more of! They had the best chemistry. So well done! Looking forward to Rye and Aubrey's journey.

This was my first FF romance and I just loved being there to watch Abey and Devo fall in love with each other. I think that this book is wonderful in that it shows us that no matter what, we are all the same - we all have insecurities, we all have family love and drama, we all want to believe we are doing good for fighting what we believe in, and that love is love! It burns me up that wonderful people have to face terrible discrimination from not just strangers, but from their own families, the people that are supposed to love them and support them forever. But, family can sometimes hurt you the worst. I cried so hard when I read about Sylvie, a teenager being beaten up by her father outside of Ace's House. I'm sure there truly are many young people that face this abuse every day and it makes me so sad and upset. You can't help who you love and no one should judge you for it! I think this book sums it up so well - if you are a good person and try to do good, what difference does it make who you love? I love Wisper and it feels like coming home every time I open one of Greta's awesome books!

This is a FF Romance, and this is the fourth book in the Wisper Dreams Series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book. I loved the characters in this book, and I loved the message in this book. I also loved getting Abey's and Devo's story which is both characters that were in other books in this series.

I so wish that Wisper was a real place! A town where everyone is accepted and valued. The characters of Devo and Abey are relatable and real. You gotta love the old curmudgeon Red Graves who is nasty to everyone but turns out he is another wounded heart. You get to meet Devi’s mom and Abey’s mom who are total opposites in how they feel about their daughters sexuality. There are new characters that you get to meet. This book continues to weave through the stories and lives of the many characters that make up the town of Wisper. Greta does a masterful job of capturing your imagination and heart with these books! Each book can be read by themselves but by reading the entire series you become a part of the town and it’s many people. The issues that the LGBTQ people face are real and heartbreaking. I fell in love with Abey the first time she showed up in the series and I’m so happy she got her own story.
If you want to read a series that is about the issues of our society and get something out of it this is the series for you!

Ohmigod…what a beautiful book! Greta has done it again—she’s taken a topic that could make so many people uncomfortable…and turned it into a lesson on love between two people. So well written and beautifully executed. The storyline was amazing; the characters fully developed—even those you wish could be shot; the plot impeccably executed; and that HEA…so beautifully done. This book explores same sex true love in a small town—without all the bull and crassness one might expect to find. Regardless of how you feel about this subject, open your heart and learn something new…❤️❤️ (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally enthralled by it!) ❤️❤️

WOW!! This story was an emotional one for me to read, and I loved it. There was so much more happening in this little town of Whisper Wyoming.

The relationship between Abey and Devo was bumpy to say the least, Abey is not openly out and Devo is. Abey is passionate about her work as a Deputy and with what is right and wrong within the law. Devo is very passionate about her beliefs and because of it she has landed in jail a couple of times.
On her last "time-out" she was told to switch places with the town grump Red, she would work at his store and he would work at the community center for a week, in a sort of "walk in my shoes" kind of thing in the hopes that the 2 would stop causing trouble. Chapter 16, was the beginning of the change in Red, this chapter just hurts to read, my heart hurts for anyone who's dealt with that nonsense from their parents.
By the end of the week both learned some valuable lessons and the biggest change was from Red, and I love that, him seeing first hand how some parents treat their kids, really shook him into understanding that what he was doing and saying was wrong.

The relationship between Devo and Abey was tentatively growing, but Abey had a lot of past emotional trauma she needed to face before she could fully accept herself and really be happy. But in those little moments she did, the chemistry between the two was off the charts and hot as hell.

When Abey finally spoke to her mom about her sexuality, I cried so much, it broke me because she finally learned that her mother did love her regardless if she was a lesbian or not.

Once Abey finally accepted who she was and loved, she wanted to show not just Devo that she was all in, but also her very small town of Whisper, the good thing is that she had not only the support of her friends but most of the town as well and gave her a safe space to be out, open and happy.
What I did not see coming was that Red was the photographer that Devo's mom had loved his photo for over 25 years after buying one of his photographs in New Mexico.
That right there is the stuff of destiny, written in the stars, of meant to be. 😍

Greta did an amazing job with representation and the sad truth of how some people in the LGBTQI+ community are tossed aside, looked down on, treated as less than just because of who they are, who they love.

Thank you Greta Rose for this book, I absolutely love it and can't wait to dive in to Midnight Surround Us.

When Abey meets Devo sparks fly and not in a good way. Previous encounters have ended with Devo being arrested, handcuffed and jailed. Not the most auspicious start to a romantic relationship!
Abey is the tall, cool and collected blonde who's seemingly unfazed in her role as the newly appointed Acting Deputy Sheriff in the small Western town of Wisper, WY. In contrast, Devo is a firecracker. A defiant, pocket rocket activist who wears her heart on her sleeve, protesting and campaigning for every disenfranchised individual in town. Not adverse to pushing legal boundaries when she considers it justifiable, Devo sets herself on a collision course with Abey.
Inevitably it's when Devo, the irresistible force meets an immovable object in the form of the grumpy, antagonistic, anti LBGTQIA+ shopkeeper Red Graves, that Devo finds herself in serious trouble. It's a novel proposal by local lawyer Brady Douglas (who we first met in ‘Broken’) that produces unexpected outcomes for all involved and forms the central storyline of this book. As you read on, it emerges that all is not what it first appears; revelations, discoveries and epiphanies await the protagonists. As a future teaser, an interesting new character also makes an appearance!
Light Betrays Us is the 4th book in the Wisper Dreams series, following on from the Cade Ranch books, all of which I'd highly recommend. Greta's strength as an author is to create believable characters to draw you in, leave reality behind and transport you to a place that feels welcoming and you never want to leave. Her writing is eloquent, humorous, heartwarming and filled with carefully observed details but doesn't shy away from real life issues. Light Betrays Us has less drama than previous Wisper books, instead it simmers with shady undertones of unspoken long held assumptions, misconceptions and resentments. Intolerance, bigotry, betrayal and anger are all confronted head on and yet through skilful writing, an amazing HEA is achieved. No mean feat considering the story matter! If you are open minded, open hearted and enjoy a beautifully written romance, then this one is well worth reading.

📰 Review: A wonderful story about finding the confidence to love who you love openly and giving grace to the 'enemy'

❤️ Rating: 5/5
🔥 Spice: 4/5
🚩 Check TWs

LIGHT BETRAYS US by Greta Rose West is a FF romance about Abey (A-b) Lee, Deputy Sheriff of Wisper, Wyoming and Devona 'Devo' (Dee-vo) Mescal, Director of Ace's House, a pro-LGBTQIA+ community center in Wisper.

We first met Abey in The Cade Ranch Series but we really started getting to know her in the Wisper Dreams Series, specifically book 4, Mountains Divide Us.

Devo leaps off the page in Storms Inside Us, book 2 in Wisper Dreams but I, at least, never suspected these two would be a future couple in the series.

These women, living and working in a fairly traditional small town in America, both struggled with homophobia/rejection; from their fathers in particular, but didn't let that stop them from being true to themselves.

Abey struggled more than Devo in some ways but as they fall in love, the outspoken activist realises she's been fighting some situations where what was really needed was a bit of love/grace/kindness.

Case in point, one supposedly bigoted person in Wisper - Red - whose clashes with Devo were frequent.

Abey's job required her to be fair when, sometimes, she wanted to speak her mind. Devo sees this, as tbey begin spending time together outside of her being arrested or detained by the Deputy for getting into it with Red.

Openmindedness and personal growth is a theme throughout this book. Members of the leading ladies' families and friends acknowledged their past/present mistakes and began working on building better relationships with them.

This was the icing on the cake of Abey and Devo's love story for me - reading about a (fictional) town where the community comes together and shows compassion, support, love for people they once judged unfairly.

Go read LIGHT BETRAYS US. In fact, go read both series! Each book is special, with various issues touched on in a respectful manner while telling the love story of a couple in Wisper, Wyoming.

Greta Rose West is opening hearts and changing minds with her words, and this truth has never been more evident than it is with her latest book.

Light Betrays Us is a beautiful love story that left me with all the feels. The chemistry between opposites-attract couple Abey and Devo is palpable and believable right from first glance to last tango. Deputy Abey is one of Wisper’s finest law enforcement officers; Devo is a hotheaded rabble-rouser whose huge, sensitive heart gets her in all kinds of trouble. Their stolen glances, teasing bits of banter and cat-and-mouse game of seduction absolutely melted me.

Among the MANY things I loved about this story:

1. Abey and Devo’s romance, obvs!

2. The “Freaky Friday” subplot between Devo and smallminded shop owner Red is a tightrope of tension, but I loved the doling out of "small town justice" as they have to switch places and walk a mile in one another’s shoes. Like me, I think most readers will soften towards Red when they learn more about what’s behind his hurt and that even the bad guy gets a second chance to love and be loved.

3. It is realistic that not all family and community members would be completely supportive about Devo and Abey's sexuality. Having a circle that is totally “kumbaya” about both women coming out, either individually or as a couple, would not ring true in today’s divisive social environment. GRW captures this perfectly and as always, does a great job of creating authentic family dynamics – and we get to witness so much satisfying personal growth from exploring her characters this way.

4. I still have a major hubba-hubba Frank hangover from GRW’s last book, Mountains Divide Us, so I LOVE any scene where he makes an appearance!

All in all, another amazing story! So glad to see Wisper is becoming more progressive and tolerant, but sad that it is miles ahead of so many other locations these days.

Another beautifully written Greta Rose West story that hit me in the feels!!!!

Light Betrays Us takes us back to the small town of Wisper.
This time.... We get Abey and Devo's FF romance story which I absolutely devoured.

When Abey and Devo meet sparks absolutely fly! However, many of their initial encounters aren't under the best of circumstances. Usually, it's because Acting Deputy Sheriff Abey has been called in to deal with a situation that more than likely would end up with her handcuffing, arresting and taking Devo to the station. (But...... handcuffs... wink wink)
Devo is such a sassy firecracker that I adored. She's out, she's proud and she unapologetically stands up for people she cares about and fights for equality and acceptance every single day.
The bane of her existence is Red Graves, a local shopkeeper who displays signs and voices being anti LGBTQ.
This brings me to grumpy Red Graves.....
Normally when you read a book it is the main characters front and centre. But..... let me tell you this man put me through an emotional wringer.
I despised him, he frustrated me, he intrigued me, my heart hurt for him, I cheered him on, he made me swoon and had me smiling. New title for this book.. Red's Redemption. Because what a journey this man went on.

Oh Abey. Gosh I felt for her. She was simply a woman who wanted love and most importantly acceptance. Acceptance as not only a female sheriff but as a female sheriff who liked women.....

The way Abey adored Devo was beautiful. I mean....
"Didn't she know? She was my perfect person. No one had ever made me feel the way Devo Mescal made me feel."

The HEA journey these two travel was not only emotional but sadly it was probably relatable too many of the LGBTQ community.
They dealt with judgement, assumptions, resentment, bigotry, hatred, denial, and nonacceptance.
But.... with support from each other, family and friends they found acceptance and a beautiful love that of course includes a little spice.

Loved, loved, loved!!!!
I can't recommend this book and this series enough...
With the introduction of a new character and some hints of what's to come I can't wait to head back to Wisper.

Greta Rose West has done it again. Light Betrays Us is the fourth book in the Whisper Dreams series. This is another heartfelt, story-rich, passionate, love story written by Greta Rose West, taking place in the fictional town of Whisper, Wyoming. The biggest change in this novel in comparison to the other books in the series is that this is a F/F love story. Even if you have never read this genre before, you should still read this book because it does not matter who falls in love in her books, Greta Rose West has a gift for writing beautiful stories about amazing people.
In Light Betrays Us, Abey finally gets her story. We are introduced to Deputy Abey early in the Cade Ranch series and she has been a small but steady presence in Whisper. As a reader of the series, it was wonderful to read Abey’s backstory and see her more than just a deputy. Abey represents what so many people face when they come out to their families and the struggle they face when they work with a judgmental public.
Abey’s love interest is Devo. She is a newer character to the series but was instrumental in helping Theo find his way in a previous book. Now it is Devos’ turn to find her way to Abey. As with all of Greta Rose West’s books, the story is more than just about the main characters but the people who are in their lives as well.
This is a moving and emotional story that gives you a look into the challenges people have to face just to be themselves and be with the ones they love. The story is spicy, entertaining, and very well done. Cannot wait to see what is next in Whisper. I was fortunate to read an early copy of this novel for my honest review.

Ok, I found this book after reading the Cade Ranch series, which, if you haven't read, I can't recommend enough. It also helps you have additional emotional buy-in with the characters. After seeing how they have grown and progressed throughout both series, you're not only rooting for them but frustrated when they make dumb choices or ecstatic when they succeed. Greta does a fabulous job walking the line between keeping conflict between the characters just enough to make you want to grit your teeth at them and also relieved when you see them push through to the side where growth and fruit are shown.
In this book, it was nice to witness Abey explore herself, the boundaries around her that are real, and those that are self-imposed. She, in and of herself, is dichotomous, she knows herself and is still exploring and coming to terms with who she is simultaneously. Alternatively, Devo is a trip, she's small but mighty. Her emotions rule her and she feels so sure of herself, but still has much to learn.
I loved this book; additional characters were revisited, and you were able to see their growth too. Romance and love are woven together in a way that leaves you with a smile on your face. I can't recommend the books enough. I love the trigger warnings at the beginning, and they give reassurance without revealing too much.

I hope you don't pass on this book because it's a f/f romance, it's about so much more! Greta has the amazing ability of taking subjects that may make us uncomfortable and delivering beautifully written insightful stories. Her stories will make you laugh, cry and possibly get angry. This is a story about Abey and Devo's journey to come out into the light. It's about the obstacles they face, the unique relationships in a small town and above all else it's a story about love, acceptance of ourselves and others. Not judging others who may have different views than our own, keeping an open mind and an open heart. There are many kinds of love, no matter what that love looks like or where you find it, we all deserve to love and be loved.

Abey has dealt with loss because of who she is and struggles with the fear of being judged so she tends to stay out of the light and live quietly in the background. Devo had a different path and has had acceptance and support and is very much in your face, this is who I am deal with it! While Abey is a deputy and upholds the law, Devo seems to always be breaking the law. They are so different can they possibly find happiness together in this small town?

I hope that you give this book the chance it deserves. If you've read any of Greta's other books you know that her message is always LOVE IS LOVE!

What a beautifully written and sensual love story. These two women have struggled with how people treat or think of them throughout their whole lives. Abbey wants to find someone to love but she is so worried about how people see her and what reaction she would get from her job. She just wants to be respected and treated equally. Devo is hotheaded and won't take disrespect from anyone. She always feels like she needs to be the one to stand up for everyone. This was my first FF read and it was so emotionally enjoyable and heartbreaking to read. The struggles are real and present. While these two are perfect for each other there are obstacles that they need to overcome and acceptance that needs to feel real for them to fully give in to each other. These characters are developed with so much care and emotion you can relate to their story and get swept up in their journey. Another Chef's kiss of a story from Greta Rose West absolute perfection. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

Not my usual type of read as it is my first F/F read but there is more to this story than just steam between two women. Abey, a deputy in the small town of Wisper and who we all know and have read about in previous books, is gay but too afraid to let everyone know. Devo, who works at Ace’s house and a huge advocate for gay rights has been arrested by Abey numerous times and isn’t shy about who she is. The two dance around each other and when they finally have a night together, it’s all either of them can think about. But Abey is too afraid to go public and Devo doesn’t want to be a secret….
A great read with many hidden messages, don’t judge a book by its cover, everyone is equal and deserves love, and you have to be happy with who you are to be truly happy and free. I liked these two, little to no drama and I could understand and see why Abey struggled. The story flowed nicely and I loved how all the friends supported and stood by Abbey’s side when it mattered.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

Another romance set in my favorite small town universe! I love Wisper and all (or maybe most ^^) of Wisper's residents and every time a new book is announced, I can't wait to read it and as part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself I was really excited about this one.

One of Great's great strengths is character development and she did deliver. Abey and Devo both have their issues and as a reader, you can easily sympathize with them. It's very clear that they also complement and complete each other, as soon as they were able to let the other person in.
The topic of needing love and respect from a parent while not being sure if one got it could have been quite heavy and is worth a trigger warning (which is provided) but it was also resumed in a heartfelt way.

I personally loved the character development of Devo's self-proclaimed nemesis, the hiking shop owner Red, ans the twist that that relationship got. ;)

Light Betrays Us by Greta Rose West is a steamy F/F romantic standalone HEA set in Wiper, WY., and I’m so happy it’s Abey’s turn!!! Wait! - and Devo’s turn too – I have loved Devo’s character since she was first introduced!!!

Both Abey and Devo have had to struggle with being “different” from what their fathers (and others) deemed as “normal”, but while Devo had a supportive mom, Abey did not. This story is about acceptance of others, but also of accepting and loving yourself. It is beautifully told, as Greta always finds a way to write about real world, emotional issues with such compassion.

It is always fun to read about characters from previous stories and not only do we get that, but we’re also introduced to quite a few new folks who I’m hoping get their happily ever afters as well.

I haven't read many FF stories, however I decided to give this a try after reading the previous books in this series (which are not FF). The author's character development is compelling and the story is more about acceptance than the actual mechanics of the FF relationship. There are steamy bedroom scenes but what drew me in was the developing relationship that required a lot of acceptance and some forgiveness. This story focuses on two people, Abey and Devo, and also deals with the people around them. Some parents do not react well to the information that their kid is not straight and this highlights how devastating that can be for their kid.

Don't let the fact that this is an FF story stop you from reading it. Yes, it's steamy, but the underlying story is about love and acceptance no matter who you love.

Going back to Wisper, WY is like getting a nice, warm hug every time I go back. This book had some nice check ins with past couples to see what they're up to now. (That tiny glimpse of Finn made my heart smile.)
It's always nice to read about characters who maybe haven't had the easiest go of it but they come out stronger at the end of the story. Devo had some immaturities that I found a bit off-putting and her own set of prejudices where she only perceived other's. Abey has a lot of faith in others but her own insecurities from a past that no kid deserves. I liked Abey's character :)
Together they were quite steamy but, more importantly, found their way to somewhere better than they were before.

Once again Greta Rose West shows that romance stories (that mostly serve as a pleasant entertainment) can be combined with serious and important topics. And of course I loved it.

I loved following how Abey and Devo were not only getting to know each other, but also discovering themselves. Given the background their backstories, as well as present situations, it was truly captivating to see how their characters and relationship grow. And we also get to follow, how other characters change and develop.

I'm also a big fan of how the author shows us glimpses of previous pairs' lives and teases the following stories. It's a perfect balance of standalone novel and interconnected stories with details that don't overshadow the main plot.

Deputy Abey Lee has fought her entire life to gain self love and acceptance . Her father withdrew his love once he saw she was gay This made Abey's self acceptance journey hard. She's afraid she'll lose the love of friends and family. She afraid of losing respect at work. She's worked so hard to achieve the position of Deputy. Devo Mescal helps her see she's worthy of love. It's well written and draws to back to Wisper. I received this ARC for a honest review and this is my review. Greta Rose West is a gifted writer. She approached a difficult topic and succeeded in drawing in the audience.

What an amazing read! This is book #4 in the Wisper Dreams series, a western f/f romance, HEA, set in the phenomenal world Greta has made. The place with wonderful characters, that I wish I could move to, Wisper,Wyoming. I highly recommend this book and this author. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading every book Greta Rose West has written. I recommend reading her Cade Ranch series, also set in Wisper. I look forward to reading her next book. I'm so happy I received an ARC of this book!

loveeeee

This author just has a way with words, one minute you’re commiserating and crying with the characters and the next you’re laughing along with them.
Greta Rose West weaves some serious magic with her stories. I’ve been spellbound from the very first book.

Abey and Devo’s story is no different. It tackles important human subjects and deals with them in a sensitive but ultimately human way. You can’t help but fall in love with them both. They’re sassy and forthright and so very spicy too!

Loved it!

Light Betrays Us is a small-town opposites attract spicy FF romance which also deals with homophobia within the community. This was just *sigh* a fantastic read! I loved the chemistry between Deputy Sheriff Abey and hot-headed Devo who works at the community centre as a safe place for LGBTQ+ kids. Seeing them work through difficulties they had in their lives really pulled at the hear strings. I loved seeing Abey come out of herself and really flourish. Devo is, shall we say passionate, about LGBTQ rights which gets her in to a spot of trouble with shop owner, Red. Devo and Red were each others nemesises (nemesi?) at the beginning of the book but both went through massive personal growth throughout the story which was huge and so heartwarming to see. You got to see this whole other side to Red, too. Oh gosh, I got emotional on several occasions. Greta West's words have power and they are so real. What Abey and Devo have to deal with is so true within our society today! Greta has this way of pulling you in to the story and making you really care for each character. Making you feel what they feel. If you like FF romance then I definitely recommend you give Light Betrays Us a read!

Very emotional read. People learning to accept other people is hard for those wanting to be accepted, especially by a parent. They are still your child, no matter what, all they need is your love an acceptance even if you don't understand or agree. No child should feel ashamed of who they are.
