The next book in my huge "organize the Christmas books" thing I've been doing for most of July is Prayers and Poems for Christmas first published in 1996 by Ideals. The contents are:

Christmas Families

Christmas Blessings

Christmas Faith

Christmas Journeys

Christmas Gifts

Christmas Adoration and

Christmas Peace

And each section is filled with poems and prayers. Here are a few:

Christmas Wish

May you know the truth of Christmas
That Jesus Christ is King,
Born in a lowly manger
Where heavenly angels sing,
And on the throne of God
Where hosannas ever ring.

May you know the love of Christmas
Made incarnate on that night
When Jesus came to live on earth
Bringing hope and light;
Atoning, healing, giving life,
Conquering wrong, enthroning right.

May you know the peace of Christmas
That Christ alone can give,
Not only in your home
And daily as you live,
But hourly, weekly, yearly
And onward to life's eve.

A Christmas Prayer

O God our loving Father, help us
rightly to remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
he gladness of the shepherds,
and he worship of the wisemen.

Close the door of hate, and open
the door of love all over the world.

Deliver us from evil by the blessing
that Christ brings, and teach us
to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy
to be Thy children and the Christmas
evening bring us to our beds with
grateful thoughts, forgiving and
forgiven for Jesus' sake.
Amen.

Left this one out near our Christmas tree, on the coffee table, for December. When I needed a "fix" it came through each time. Some were quite good, making this one a keeper.
On the title page is an inscription to Robert Poore which reads: Merry Christmas to my love, Always yours, Dotty. 1997
