As more people, including some celebrities, come out as non-binary, the term "non-binary" is becoming more and more prominent. It is now essential to educate oneself on the concept of non-binary identity whether or not you identify as one so that you can understand everything it entails. This book's comprehensive explanation of non-binary identity will be helpful to anyone who wants to understand what it means to be non-binary and discover the best ways to support non-binary friends and relatives.
I read this book while looking for educational resources for a friend who has begun exploring their gender identity and thinks they might be non-binary, hoping for a good, comprehensive introduction to what it means to be non-binary. However, this very short ... book? pamphlet? essay? reads like a term paper written by a student in middle school or high school. It also feels like it was written by someone who does not have personal experience with a non-binary identity. Though it references specific authors / resources, it does not give proper reference information for these sources, and it uses some outdated language, like the word "transgenders". It's not bad, per se, if it was written as a school paper by someone in middle school or high school, but as a serious publication seeking to educate people about people with non-binary gender identities, I would not recommend it to others. If it was, in fact, written by a teenager, I feel a bit bad about giving it a bad rating and review, but if it was written by an adult, it really needs some improvement. And maybe a copy editor for some of the grammatical issues. It could definitely be better.
